A Little Video While We Wait
February 19, 2008Only A Matter Of Time?
February 20, 2008Granted, the team simply did not play well in last night’s game against Houston, but when your leader goes for 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists and you still lose, it is safe to say that something is wrong. Combining a sluggish second quarter with a 38 percent clip from the floor, and that’s what you get when you’re facing a team that brings two All-Stars in Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming along with one of the more underrated defenders in Shane Battier.A few quick tidbits on the game:
– Rafer Alston (6’2″) had more blocked shots than Yao Ming (7’6″)
– Don’t forget that the Cavs were in talks to possibly bring Luis Scola (15 points, eight boards, one block) here this past summer
– You never quite realize how many “D’s” we have until you look at a box score. Damon, Dwayne, Donyell, Drew, Daniel, Devin…
– …which is very ironic, considering we allowed 93 points, and
– Alston was the leading scorer, which just magnifies the dire need for point guard help
Which leads to trade talks, as the deadline nears…
Briand Windhorst’s latest piece discusses the possibilities of two big-name players moving before tomorrow afternoon’s deadline: Memphis’ Mike Miller and Philly’s Andre Miller. The Sixers had been rumored to have Miller on the move for a while now, but now appear content with holding on to him regardless of Louis Williams’ emergence off of the bench. And Memphis simply looks to be in the unloading business, as seen by their trade of Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown et al.
I’d be hard-pressed to believe that we can’t muster up something for the Memphis gunner, given the market price accepted for Gasol. To me, the only thing that would stop the team from making a move is the fact that they think they can get something better if they just wait the year out – a dangerous move in the “what have you done for me lately” mentality that fans and players have come to acquire over time.
And while I think that does it for me on the Cavs-trade talks today, I think that you should head over to Cavalier Attitude at some time today. Bethlehem Shoals of Free Darko is one of the many bloggers to take a clique-like paying gig at The Sporting News. Apparently, Shoals had some not-too-nice things to say about the Cavaliers and their lack of assets, so CA decides to fire back. It has a scent of “I can talk bad about my team, but you can’t” flavor to it, but nonetheless it is always good to see some positive talk around these parts.
Enjoy.
