March 12, 2008Cavs can’t overcome pathetic start
March 12, 2008Yesterday, ESPN’s Pat Forde broke down the major conferences, discussing things like “The Team to Beat,” or which team could be possibly “losing it.” While it comes as no surprise that the team “losing it” is one Indiana University, following the loss of Kelvin Sampson, the “Team to watch” definitely caught my eye:
Team to watch: Ohio State (24). The Buckeyes shot themselves back into NCAA tournament contention with a big home sweep of Purdue and Michigan State to end the regular season. They get another shot at the Spartans on a neutral court Friday with plenty of bubble-related motivation.
I admittedly haven’t been able to follow the OSU hoops as much this season as I did last year. No Greg Oden and company coupled with a football season that was a LOT longer than usual, and this is what you get. I have been able to catch them recently, as I know the win over Michigan State was pretty big – especially considering that MSU handed it to Indiana not long before.
There are a lot of things that need to happen for OSU to get the tourney nod this season, as Rick mentioned here, but there is no denying that the team is pouring it on at the right time. All eyes are glued on “March 20” when the festivities kick off. Whether or not OSU gets invited to the party or not will remain to be seen.
