Could Barry Bonds Be Joining The AL Central?
April 4, 2008Getting Back Into The First Round?
April 4, 2008Unreal.
That’s really the only term I have been able to come up with this morning. Double-digit leads and a seven-footer with an open attempt at a dunk that could seal the deal. Only to wind up like that Sprite commercial where the guy gets rejected by the rim, except with a loss to a conference opponent – one that we made a huge trade with that was supposed to make us better.
He couldn’t have laid it in?
And don’t get me started on Larry Hughes. If last night’s game doesn’t show that it was more us than him, I’m not sure what will. Put him on a running team that doesn’t just dribble the ball around until 10 seconds are left on the shot clock, and Hughes will reward you with a near triple-double. In fact, 25 points (15 in the third quarter), eight boards and nine assists would sound just about right. For a different team.
All we can do now is hope that this team shows at least some sort of composure over the final stretch, locks up home court advantage, and gets their act together for the Wizards in the first round – assuming they’re (once again) our opponent.
And Mike Brown, if you’re reading this, how about actual “plays.” You know, those drawn up kind that actually involve other people? You were just out-coached by a guy who wasn’t in his position at the beginning of the season. Terry Pluto may have your back, but I sure don’t.
With that said, Bud Shaw is spot on. If LeBron doesn’t get the MVP this season, it’s due to this team – not a lack of credentialed play over the season.
But hey, at least Ohio State won their game. Taking home the NIT championship isn’t all too bad aside from the fact that no one will even remember who won the thing outside of Ohio. A few more wins late and this team could have made some noise in the NCAA, but to say that they deserved a bid is just silly. But hey, there’s always Next Year…

I was at the Cavs game last night and when Wallace missed that dunk, the air was sucked out of the entire arena. That was (slightly) worse than David Wesley missing a break away lay up by throwing the ball off the bottom of the rim.
Oh… and f*ck Larry Hughes.
Does anybody know how much time is between the last regular season game and the first playoff game? We need like a month so this team can practice together.
After that debacle yesterday I understand the negativity. However, you can’t use this one game as proof that Hughes is better off now. Line since joining da bulls:
13.3/3.5/3.6
Not so close to a triple double.
Overall, great site. My #1 reference for cleveland sports news
That was a pathetic performance in the second half. The Cavs didn’t even seem to think they were in any danger of losing that game until Chicago took the lead with around a minute left. No sense of urgency on defense at all.
Adam – Yes, he hasn’t changed much from when he was here, but he definitely paid us back in spades.
Once again coach brown can’t come up with an answer to his team’s offensive malaise. Expect more of the same with a first round exit.
Larry Hughes was shooting ~38% with Cleveland. He’s shooting ~38% with Chicago. He has moments, and you know he tries just a little bit harder when he plays Cleveland. The problem is he can’t put up these numbers on any sort of consistent basis.
