April 23, 2008Tribe washed out, Miller makes start in Buffalo

More fuel for the OSU/UM fire. Talk about complete reversal though, this is the kind of thing that used to fire up Buckeye fans, now it is bulletin board material for the woodchucks. Does MGoBlog have a point? Does Les? Do you care about this former woodchuck?

An interesting slew of events to say the least.
Also interesting is the recent media blitz of NCAA parents. First, Terrelle Pryor’s father was whispering PSU in the kids ear. Now this kid’s dad is all over the papers. In both cases, fans of the program are teeing up a backlash. Not sure if this is a sign of things to come in the future, or just coincidental events, but we now have two fathers that are probably not liked by many north of the Turnpike….
Does MGoBlog have a point?
Well, look at the series of events:
– new coach shows up with a new, extremely intense workout philosophy;
– two-year starter decides he’s going to leave;
– program’s announcement consists of approximately “two-year starter has decided to leave the program”;
– two-year starter’s dad holds press conference(s) to talk about how eeevil the new coach is.
I’m a Wolverine, so I have an admitted bias, but the only “villain” I see here is Boren’s dad. What was he thinking? What was the point?
Does Les?
Les’s point seems to be, “Boren’s going to be a contributor, so get used to his presence.” I wouldn’t disagree with that.
He also seems to try to polish Boren’s Columbus credentials by pointing out the family’s ties to… Cleveland? Um, last I checked, Ann Arbor was still geographically closer to Cleveland than Columbus. But that’s never stopped Cleveland Buckeye fans before anyway, so… sure, whatever 😉
Watch this video, especially the Pat White part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0jTKCgamaU
“It’s very intense. We run around, We have fun. But, I guess, not as many curse words….you don’t feel so bad when you make mistakes. You’re able to be coached instead of just embarrassed, or whatever you want to call it.”
Obviously RichRod’s style isn’t going to be for everyone. People can say Boren “can’t handle it” or whatever, but at the end of the day, Rodriguez hasn’t proven his style of coaching/screaming/yelling/whatever works….but Tressel has proven his style works, and that’s the system Boren’s going to be in, so who cares whether or not he could “handle” Rodriguez’s style.
I think R Rodriguez’s successful run at WV can was aided by the departure of the U, VT, and the additions of schools from conference USA to the Big East. Look, I like the Bearcats too, but their not Virginia Tech…. so, it should be interesting to see how the spread offense works in the Big 10
Did I say “their not Virginia Tech”? I meant “they’re” not Virginia Tech. Ladies and Gentlemen, your education tax dollars at work…
