We Think “Corner,” Browns Go “Quarter”

April 28, 2008Les blames Wizards for losses…

Les and I talked about this the other week. Some players thrive when ‘extra motivation’ is given. You would think that Brendan Haywood would have learned that lesson by now. You would think that seeing LeBron continue to dominate DeShawn Stevenson would be a clue. One might think that after going down 3-1 in the best of seven that maybe the Wizards would have a little team meeting and agree to cool it on the LeBron trash talk. You’d think so wouldn’t you?
So this afternoon when the story came out that Haywood called LeBron a crybaby, I couldn’t believe it. But there it was–
“Awww,” Haywood said, in a whiny, high-pitched voice to mock James. “They are trying to hurt me.”
Haywood, who was called for a flagrant-two foul and ejected from Game 2 after shoving James, believes it’s time for Cleveland’s superstar to stop complaining.
“I mean come on man, this is the playoffs,” Haywood said following Monday’s practice. “He wears 23, he wants to be Michael Jordan, I can respect that, he’s a great player. You saw what Mike went through. Mike got fouled way worse than this. No one is trying to hurt him, everybody is trying to play basketball, trying to play tough. Play basketball and leave it alone.”
Whatever. Keep talking. But take notice of something Haywood and Stevenson. Next week when you’re sitting on your cans watching coverage of the second round of the playoffs, see how many times the Celtics talk smack about LeBron. I bet they don’t. Or go ask Rasheed Wallace how well talking trash worked for him and the Pistons last year. Idiots.

I get the feeling we’re going to see a monster game 5 from LeBron. Stevenson says LeBron isn’t as good as Kobe. He’s right, Lebron is better.
Couldn’t agree with Les more.
And good point about Boston compared to Washington, too. There are classy teams and then there are…..well, the Washington Wizards.
You notice how there aren’t many barbs being dished out by Jamison and Butler? I don’t think this is a coincidence…
i just hope that at the end of game 5, as confetti falls from the rafters and “another one bites the dust” echoes in the Q, lebron looks deshawn in the eyes and tells him like he told chris bosh’s girlfriend/friend/cousin/whoever: “this is your fault”.
I don’t much care for Les’s commentaries. They are light on insight and heavy on attitude. Does sports commentary have always to sound like someone is reprimanding his children?
The whole set-up lacks imagination. Les comes off not only as arrogant—I guess that’s his aim—but also as narrow-minded and monotone.
Nice buu…
Yes, this will be a sweet series win this week. Pay close attention Cleveland fans, when Lebron leaves your crap town for the Knicks in a few years, all you’ll have are your memories. At least Jay Z will still be a Cavs fan, right?
Oh, boy I never thought of it like that before. Guys maybe we should change the site name to Waiting Until LeBron Leaves? I mean, why wouldn’t he want to play for the Knicks or the Nets…they’ve been sooooo successful over the last 10 years.
Lebron is overrated!!!!!! Kobe is way better. Lebron cant shoot from the outside, cant defend, cant shoot free throws! MJ didnt cry he played. Man up boy. He can ask the spurs about his game! Go Wizards they will win!!!!
man lebron is good but the cavs arent going anywhere. you better pray for a hawks series win against boston right (anything can happen….) caz you guys are gone. last years cavs team was the worst finals team in the history of the nba.
YES!!! I was wondering how long it would take for a Wizard fan to say we weren’t a good NBA Finals team. Awesome job! Way to go. Way to bring up last year…which if I’m not mistaken was another year that we beat Washington in the first round. And thank you for conceding defeat, we’ll worry about who we play next thank you, you just go crawl in your DC hole and take cheap shots at Arenas for awhile.
AND…we get the double bonus of Washington fan calling LeBron ‘overrated’ while comparing him to a top 3 player in the league. See, that’s the funny thing Wizard fan, if you truly thought LeBron wasn’t in the same category as the top players, then why do you mention him with Kobe or Michael Jordan? Awesome stuff Wizard fans.
Worst finals team in the history of the NBA that just happened to sweep the Wizards in the first round. You guys have a good thing going over there in Washington, seriously. Anyone know if Soulja Boy can put on a uniform? I bet he could give DeShawn a pretty good run in one-on-one
