Browns Made A Huge Mistake, Pause, Not
April 16, 2008Can Sabathia Get Off The Schneid?
April 16, 2008Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson says he wants to be traded before the NFL draft on April 26-27, ESPN reported Wednesday.
Johnson said he will not attend any team functions and also said quarterback Carson Palmer was wrong in saying that Johnson would be attending minicamp, ESPN said.
Quite a difference from the recent ESPN interview in which Johnson said himself that he would do what he needed to do to get “his team” to win. I’ll be the first to admit that Johnson’s antics do not exactly help the Bengals, but I’m willing to bet that the troubles that this team is facing runs a lot deeper than end zone dances by a wide receiver. I’m sure we’ll see more on this in the umcoming days.

This whole Johnson saga is really unfourtunate, because he was a really likable guy, even as a Bengal. Sure, his antics got annoying, but he didn’t take himself so seriously like most athletes these days. Hopefully this situation gets cleared up. Is there any possiblity that the Cowboys could add to their rouge gallery of a team?
I’m torn over this. I don’t believe any single player on a football team should bring this much attention to themselves. But I kind of understand some of 85’s frustration. I live in C’bus, so there is a lot of Bengals coverage here. It seems like Cinci mgt. put a lot of blame for last season’s failure on 85. I can’t really understand why. 85 & TJ were the most consistent players on the team. Even Palmer had a down year. They say he was a distraction yet he was just being himself. No different than any other year…they knew what they had in 85. He even changed for them mid-season…he kept his mouth shut & cut down on the TD dances. This could only get worse unless the Bengals do give in and trade 85. But with his recent antics, that may get harder to trade for his worth.
