NFL Draft Contest

nfl_draft.jpgA couple weeks ago WFNY sent out invitations for a Blogger Draft Contest that we are hosting. The concept is simple, give us 5 players your team will pick in this weekend’s draft. Not 5 guys they are looking at for the first pick, but name us 5 guys that will be on the roster after the last name is called. The response has been slim.

Our good buddies at Ghosts of Wayne Fontes came through with their picks, in fact they already posted them on their site. Matty from The Phinsider is in, and waiting until the deadline to get their picks to us. (We went back and forth on whether or not to allow them to list Long, but in the end decided they could. Come on, they had to watch the Dolphins all last year.) Dave from Stripe Hype, a Bengal site is in. (By the way, I noticed Dave and a few other mock drafts have Sedrick Ellis falling to the Bengals at 9. That would be very fortunate for them I think.) Cat Crave (Panthers) is in as well as John sent us his picks last week.

That’s all the bloggers that responded. So I’m opening this thing up to our readers. If you’d like to take a team and try your luck, claim them in the comment section. The Browns, Bengals, Panthers, Lions and Dolphins are taken. If you claim a team you must email me the 5 players you believe that team will select before midnight on Friday. (Those were the rules for everybody.) Good luck and have fun…

Id love too… but my picks would only highlight my ignorance.

  • Rick

And who has a problem with that? :)

  • SamBfromTN

I will try to talk to some friends in my area to see if I can throw some in for the Titans.

  • draftnik1

I will throw down for the two remaining AFC North rivals. If I get even one of these right, I will be ecstatic. Love the draft, hate the inaccuracy.

    STEELERS

NEEDS: OT, OG, CB, S, LB

    Draft
    23. Mike Jenkins, CB, USF – Large and fast
    53. Sam Baker, OT, USC – Seems to be freefalling a bit, but fills a huge need
    88. Quentin Demps, S, UTEP – Hit and miss for UTEP, but appears to have potential
    123. Donald Thomas, OG, UConn – moves well, not a great pass blocker
    156. Curtis Johnson, LB, Clark Atlantic – I hate when the Steelers find some unknown and make him a great 3-4 ILB, I’m putting my money on him.

    RAVENS

NEEDS: QB (I personally think Troy Smith will be an average to slightly above average NFL QB, but probably won’t get the chance here), CB, OT, LB, WR

    DRAFT
    8. Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy – Best CB in draft
    38. Chad Henne, QB, Mich – Please please please pick Chad Henne; I’ve never been impressed, but seems like stars aligning on this one
    99. DJ Hall, WR, Alabama – Solid WR
    106. Tony Hills, OT, Texas – Broken leg drops him to value range
    133. Ezra Butler, LB, UNLV – All he does is make plays

I love this weekend!!!!! Talladega, NFL draft, the Cavs clinching, my wife out of town…I see chicken wings and beer in my future.

  • Rick

We have some things in common this weekend Draftnik…mostly my wife is out of town and there will be sports and chicken wings! Thanks for stepping up and covering the other two North teams.

That means taken are Pittsburgh, Cincy, Baltimore, Miami, Detroit, Carolina, Tennessee, and Cleveland.

    Any other takers???
