A Small Milestone and Some Thanks…

May 5, 2008“He was merely practicing covering Chris Henry guys”– Jack Gonzo on Kenny Wright’s arrest
WFNY spends a moment with drive by commenter Jack Gonzo, the Greg Maddux of kickball, who happens to have his own site, LSWTF?!
1. Favorite sport to watch in person
College Football. People care about college football, they are devout in their teams, not all NFL teams can say the same thing. The only downside is when you go to a dry stadium, but that’s why the gods created tailgating.
2. Favorite sport to watch on tv
The NFL, of course the Browns, at least this last year. In the past it was somewhat of a car crash, like a Maury or Springer episode, but they really become a great team to watch this last year.
3. Sports or hobbies you play
I grew up the son of a coach, so I played football from the age of seven till I was 18. Nowadays I keep myself satisfied by being the Greg Maddux of kickball. I am called the Greg Maddux of kickball due to the junk I throw, as opposed to those other pitchers in kickball who all want to be Roger Clemens. Course the undefeated season we had last year proves the power of the junk ball pitcher.
4. Married? Kids?
I was just married on April 12th. (Remember, candlesticks make a nice gift…or maybe find out where she’s registered and get a place setting…) The closest thing to a kid we have is a 17 pound cat who doesn’t actually know it’s a cat.
5. Favorite Cleveland sports memory
Growing up in California I didn’t get to see all the games I wanted to see so I’d have to go with my first visit to the Dawg Pound and watching Major League for the first time.
6. Most heartbreaking loss
We don’t need to talk about John Elway and why I’m not allowed within 100 miles of Denver now do we?
7. Which team do you most want a title for (Browns, Tribe, Cavs)
The Browns, we are known as the greatest football fans in the NFL, we DESERVE a title.
8. Your dream piece of Cleveland sports memorabilia
John Elway’s head on a spike count?
9. Favorite place to watch a game
By far it’s the Dawg Pound. Four quarters of standing, throwing nut shells on the people who “fell asleep”, chanting, drinking, and having the greatest time.
10. Any superstitions
This past year it was that we had to watch the games at one location, or we lost. It was true too, until the Cards game, which I still contest we won.
11. What would be your entrance music
Interesting question. I have actually been a commentator, interviewer and ring announcer for Eastern Wrestling Alliance in the Baltimore area and as such I’ve had theme music so I’ll say Bout To Bubble by Tech N9ne.
Why Cleveland teams
I get asked this all the time, you grew up in California why are you a Browns fan?! It’s very simple actually and it goes to what I spoke of earlier, my father. My family is ultra competitive, in almost everything we do. Growing up I saw my father, I taunted my father and to spite my father I became Browns fan. How does that spite him? Well, father is a Steelers fan (if they were big when he was growing up he was a fan of theirs. Namely the Steelers, Celtics and Alabama football). It also didn’t help that I also grew up watching Bernie killing folks at Miami when I was what, 4 or 5, and then he was a Brown. It’s been that way ever since.

MacNip, is that you in the cap and gown?
Is that helmet missing a horn?
What college team do you like? Is it the OSU or someone that ‘Bama fans hate?
Actually my mother’s side of the family comes from Texas so I was raised a Texas Longhorns fan.
