Progressive Field may no longer be “Jacobs.” There may not be as many sold out games as their once was. Heck, you may only see a win 50 percent of the time – if you’re lucky. But one thing that you do get with “The Prog” is the consistent amount of promotions. The same promotions that placed the stadium so high up in the recent Sports Illustrated rankings.
But, stand back, Minor League Baseball. This promotion may top all blanket, bobblehead and firework nights.
With the Indians only playing 12 games at home through the month of June, the Tribe marketing team put in some long hours to bring you “70s Weekend.” Said promotion will go down during the June 13-14-15 series against the Padres. And who better to be in attendance than… Squiggy from the “1976 hit show” Laverne and Shirley.
Squiggy. Not David Lander. Squiggy.
The team will be wearing the uniforms from 1978 – which are hopefully less see-through than those that they break out during alternate games. Fans in attendance will slso receive a 1970′s Indians cap. Those not in attendance will be able to hear Sir Squiggy in the booth, as Sports Time Ohio has apparently booked an in-booth appearance. Perhaps they’ll discuss his stake in the Portland Beavers?
Oh, and you may not believe it, but GREAT SEATS STILL REMAIN.
