Romeo Crennel on Ty Law
August 27, 2008Are We Collecting Thirty-Somethings?
August 27, 2008Before the Cavaliers traded for Mo Williams, I was about ready to suggest that if the Cavaliers wanted to lock LeBron up for the long term trading for Jason Kidd might be the way to go. The Cavs superstar blatantly told us in the past that he would like for Kidd to come to Cleveland. The pair were seen all over Beijing together- at other events, sitting next to each other on the bench, standing on the podium together, etc.
The trade made the acquisition of Kidd somewhat unrealistic. (By the way, I wasn’t real high on the idea of taking on Kidd anyway, it seemed more like a means to an end.) But since the games ended we have this bit of information floating around–
“I’m undefeated,” Kidd, 35, said. “I told them I can retire now from international ball, but LeBron [James] threw out something I didn’t like. He said he won’t play in 2012 unless I’m there.” During the team news conference after the United States’ 118-107 victory over Spain on Sunday, James suggested a slightly different scenario: “J-Kidd is going to become a player-coach now,” he announced.
Hmmmm. Feeling nervous Mike Brown? I would too…

Is Kidd wearing a Tribe hat?
Dan – it’s definetly a baseball style hat. There’s a chance.
I would take Kidd as player coach over Mike Brown TODAY. I am only half kidding. I dislike Mike Brown as a coach that much.
The only way I would take Kidd is if he got bought out and was signing one of those C-Webb in a Pistons uniform type deals.
It’s a Cardinals hat by the way…

Why won’t the NBA opener come sooner!?
Seriously, though, Kidd as a coach sounds like a good idea, but I am not entirely sure it would be a good idea. He’s never coached, officially speaking. Its one thing to be chummy and throw your around a guy and give him advice when youtoo are wearing a uniform, but wouldn’t be different if you are really a coach?
Its a tough choice, and I am on the fence. I would love some quality offense, but could Kidd deliver as a coach?
Anyways, thanks for the Cavs piece, I was starting to get the shakes.
That wedding album is absolutely fabulous!!!! Get a room boys!!!
The Mo trade was refreshing. I was beginning to see a one sided trade to bring kidd in next year (a last ditch effort to keep LeBron happy) and us being left with nothing after Lebron leaves!!!
By the way, I don’t think LeBron is going anywhere…
Hilarious. Excellent work.
All great point guards can coach right away at the pro level, just like Magic – … uhhh … never mind.
Funny stuff Rick … but in all seriousness, I can totally see Kidd signing for the veteran’s minimum to join LeBron…
[…] claims of not playing in 2012 without Kidd, but I’ll leave that to others who do it better (Waiting for Next Year spoke on this subject earlier today even). I really just wanted to throw my hat in the photoshop arena and combine a few of the creepier […]
Harv – same can be said about Isiah
Speaking of ex-PGs coaching, didn’t our very own Mark Price coach some Australian team? I also believe he was fired like after 5 games…
EDIT: Yup, here’s the link:

[…] fans have been hearing about a potential trade that would bring Jason Kidd to the Cavs to play alongside BFF LeBron James. As we all know, the trade never materialized and the Cavs ended up with a backcourt […]
