Franklin Gutierrez Goes Lead-Off?
August 6, 2008Mr. Kosar? The IRS Is Here To See You.
August 6, 2008The 2008-09 regular season schedule for the Cavaliers was released today. The full slate can be found here.
Quick Notes:
The team will start the season off on the road against – who else, but – the Boston Celtics. In the NBA’s defense, the Cavs/Celts games in Boston were a lot better than the ones that went down here – at least from a competitive standpoint. The game will go down on October 28th, and will nationally televised on TNT. In fact it is one of 25 nationally televised games, with several of the big games getting the nod (Detroit, LA Lakers, Denver and Washington each getting multiple games on the big stage).
This will be the first time in five seasons that Cleveland will begin the season on the road. We come home for October 30th as we play host to the Charlotte Bobcats. Take it for what it’s worth.
Speaking of Washington, one of the nationally televised games goes down on Christmas Day. Lakers/Celtics at 5p EST (on ABC), followed up by Cavs/Wiz on TNT. Should be one heck of a hoops-filled holiday. I’m sure we’ll have plenty to discuss come that time – just ask our good friends at Bullets Forever.
The final month of basketball goes as follows: At Washington, at Orlando, San Antonio, Washington, at Philadelphia, Boston, at Indiana, Philadelphia (in Orlando?). Talk about a home stretch.
Oh, and for those wondering, I count 14 times during the season where the second game of a back-to-back is on the road. Man, do I love when that happens…
(Now go vote for for me over at HHR’s Iron Ref!)

Wait ’til LeBron gets to New York, then he’ll really be on TV!
I haven’t had a chance to look at the schedule yet, but the Cavs press release I got in my email said they had the league-max 34 Nationally Televised games, not 25.
Funny that we get to play the Wizards on Christmas Day. I guess the NBA is trying to cash in on this big “rivalry”.
I love that Wizards fans are finally accepting that the Cavs basically own them when it counts.
Ha. Rivalry it is!
78-4
maybe we can play them with just 5 players this year, or better yet how about just lebron
@Kunal: Didn’t we do that last year? Damon Jones went nova, just never to be heard from again…
I have a picture from Cavs/Wiz game 4 that shows DJ standing 2/4 of the way on the floor during a team timeout. He was busy watching a drumline that was going on at mid-court instead of being in the huddle. It’s only up on my facebook though, no flickr to share.
January 4th or April 2nd – WFNY night at the Verizon Center… any takers?! (I’ll buy the first round of beers, but not the tickets)
Rock, I think the remaining 9 nationally televised games are on NBATV, if you count that nationally televised.
I guess Lebron playing in Cleveland is really hurting his exposure, he sure is having a hard time getting TV time
lebron who? never heard of him.
Joied flickr, uploaded pictures from Cavs/Wizards to group.
I noticed we play Washington twice in the last two weeks of the season. Nice tune up before we eliminate them in the first round again next year?
Don’t you tempt me Ron Burgandy. I’ve been looking for a reason to visit DC sometime.
