If Only They Made “5-Hour Pass Catching” Drinks…

I’m sure by now you all have seen the commercials… our boy Braylon Edwards is shilling for 5-Hour Energy drinks: “Yeah, my friend always wants one of mine and I have to say get your own. I’m like the 5-Hour Energy Designated Driver.” How about this, Braylon: how about you spend more time being the 3-Hour Pro Bowl Pass Catcher that we Browns fans saw last year instead of worrying about your endorsement of crappy products?

As I saw the commercial for the first time last night (bonus points to anyone who can find a video of it and send it to me for this post), I found myself shouting (SHOUTING) at the television set. “How about you spend more time catching the [bleeping] ball?”

I then found myself wondering: is the problem really that the Browns have had (and will continue to have) so many late-kickoff games this year? I mean, think about it. Edwards has one TD catch this season, and it was in the only game that featured a 1:00 PM kickoff time. Is Edwards popping his 5-Hour Energy shot at 11 AM each week, only to see its effects wear off by 4:00 PM, thus making them ineffective for the 4 and 8 PM kick-offs? I mean, we know Romeo is infamous for his clock mis-management…

Is Edwards suffering from the dreaded “energy drink crash” in the late games??

Somebody needs to look into this. And, if he’s the “5-Hour Energy Designated Driver” for the team, is the whole team suffering because of this lack of clock management???

Brady Quinn sees nothing wrong with this endorsement.

    /Now I’m done.

My blood pressure goes up anytime i read about this team anymore…

  • http://justrubsomesugaronit.blogspot.com I’m Ron Burgundy?

In an unrelated note, Braylon’s already got a large Frye.

  • TampaBrett

They don’t show this commercial in the South.

i like that browns players are hocking the stuff that you look at skeptically when at the 7-11.
however, upon seeing this commercial the other day, my roommate and i started thinking: when was the last time you saw a browns player on a nationally televised commercial for something other than the NFL? and we honestly couldnt think of any before brady and bray-lon.
    anyone?

and im not talking about the MDP here. im pretty sure that was local to northeast ohio.

Who do you think his friend on the team who also suggested that he uses it is? My money is on Steve Sanders

TampaBrett: Not true. I live in Clearwater, and I just saw this commercial this past Saturday night. I even made a point to drop the cup I was holding at that moment in honor of Stonehands. There’s now a stain on the carpet of my gameroom, but it was worth it for the laughs it got.

Hey, i use that 5-hour energy fairly regularly…it’s not a crappy product! It really works!

  • TampaBrett

B-bo. I’ll keep my eye open. Also, is Braylon the national spokesperson for yahoo fantasy football. I always see his face on their logos and stuff.

    @Chuck-
No offense intended, but it made me think of Rod Tidwell in “Jerry Maguire” – “5-Hour Energy ain’t going to bring Reebok to their knees…”

  • James

They don’t show this commercial in the South? I live in SW Louisiana and I see this damn crap everyday.
