Concerning Turnovers
October 23, 2008NBA Blogger Previews – Northwest Division
October 23, 2008Although the word staph is never mentioned in this post, it is morbidly refreshing to hear this story come out about Tom Brady a few days after Kellen Winslow’s statements about his infections. You don’t root for anyone to be injured, but sometimes it feels like Cleveland is the only city that contracts infections after surgeries. Tom Brady has received multiple treatments on his surgically repaired knee because doctors fear that the replacement ligaments could be in jeopardy.
Doctors are so concerned about containing the infection in Tom Brady’sleft knee they have performed three procedures in an attempt to eradicate it, according to a source familiar with the Patriots quarterback’s travails on the West Coast.
While Brady acknowledged on his Web site that he had one arthroscopic procedure done to “clean and to test the wound” last Wednesday, the Herald has learned there have been two additional procedures performed since that time, with the same goal in mind.
Brady, on his web site, stated that the infection is being treated aggressively with antibiotics. Now, it is coming out that the Pats are very unhappy with this latest surgical revelation. They wanted the surgery done under the auspices of the Patriots organizational doctors in Boston. Brady instead opted to have his surgery done by a doctor that knows the Brady family and performs in California. The big concern for Brady is if he has to have the ACL surgery done over again, the rehabilitation clock starts from scratch.
For all you paranoid Browns fans out there who think the world is crashing down on you all the time, you will be happy to know that surgical complications do happen to everybody, including the most successful QB of recent history. It shouldn’t make you feel better necessarily, but it should relieve the thoughts of any kind of specific “curse” on Cleveland.

Suspend him! 🙂
(Couldnt resist)
Come on now Scott, you don’t suspend him yet. First you need to hide this from all of his teammates so they are completely in the dark about it.
There’s a really big picture of a half naked guy on the site…
I also have an issue with the picture and a lot of questions for Craig
this whole staph thing with the browns is being blown out of proportion. staph is everywhere – we are all susceptible to it. we all have it on our bodies right now. athletes are even more susceptible to it because they get injured more (especially football players), with more cuts and scrapes, and so have more opportunity for an infection. Rudy Gay for the grizzlies is out for a few days (or weeks?) with some kind of staph infection. you can sterilize all you want and you cant get rid of it totally. plus, the assumption is that Winslow got it from Berea or some Browns’ facility, but we dont know that. he could have gotten it in a cab, or playing at another team’s field/lockerroom, or at an airport. who knows?
Couldn’t you have just put up a picture of Gisele?
is that picture from your personal Tom Brady folder? If not, you can borrow mine.
it does seem like staph is running rampant in the NFL (especially here) but it could be that we’re just hearing about it more because its happening in the NFL. Do 20 million people care if I get a staph infection in my surgically repaired wrist? nope.
i got a staph infection once from a certain indoor soccer field in the cleveland area. nobody seemed to care. i will attest it hurt like hell though.
I decided today was the day that I am bringing sexy back to the WFNY site. Either that or I am attempting to find a way to mock out the best QB in the NFL. Posting a pic of his supermodel girlfriend doesn’t exactly strike the dagger now, does it?
I kinda disagree tom. One case of staph sucks. Two might be a coincidence. Three might indicate a problem. FIVE REPORTED CASES is outrageous. Who knows how many others they have hidden or have gone unreported?
The Browns have a problem with staph infections.
“Either that or I am attempting to find a way to mock out the best QB in the NFL.”
How does posting a half-naked Tom Brady mock Brady Quinn?

+1
At any rate, please change this picture immediately. I got some very strange looks from co-workers when they saw a half naked man on my 21″ monitor. Or at least add a “NSFW” tag or something.
Thanks,
Everyone.
well the problem is most staph is contracted by person to person contact and not environmental conditions.
What if the whole entire staph problem could be tied to a single player, say Ryan “Pro-Bowl” Pontbriand? Wouldn’t that be a surreal situation?
I have no idea why I just thought of that.
In hopes of avoiding a link with a blown up commercial or Manning not wearing a shirt, the Indianapolis Star is reporting that Peyton Manning has had his knee cleaned twice to fight off staph.
