    Beautfiful.

  • CJG

    Well said. Seriously.

  • TampaBrett

    Tampa will sweep them.

This post is The Truth. Especially Chody Pierzynski.

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com DP

Do AJ’s teammates even like him? No.

  • Bridgecrosser

Typical Cleveland fan reaction “No! Thome wasn’t a steriod abuser. Everybody else was, but he just used to work out a ton.”

  • Mike in CA

I know Stan Conte (SF Giants trainer) wasn’t a fan, especially after he took a punch in the junk by the said chode. I hope he gets a Scott Kazmir fastball to the ear.

  • kiddicus maximus

as my baseball-addicted grandmother would say “Thome is a bum. He never hits a homerun when it counts, only when they’re up by 20″

530+ homeruns hit when they didn’t count. keep it up you redneck meatball.

  • kiddicus maximus

just noticed – they drink Miller Lite in the Sox Clubhouse? talk about cost-cutting.

no Dom for you guys, but here’s some MILLER LITE!

  • SambofromOH

I am pretty sure that they mentioned in the highlights that this was the second homerun that counted in his entire career. In his press conference after the game he said that the feeling you get when making the playoffs is a special one, one he was blessed with a lot in the 90′s.

  • The Other Tim

Take that CC Sabathia and Manny Ramirez!
    (Groan.)

  • buu

whatever he hasnt played in cleveland in over 5 years. its not like i get teary eyed when i see manny hit game winning homers.

Come on, I wouldn’t be so hard on Thome. I still like the guy, I always have. It was a little easier to take when he was on Philly in the other league than in the same damn division. But I was happy for him personally. Now I want the Rays to sweep the Sox.

  • The Bambino

Do you guys really think that Thome used steroids? LMAO if you do. The guys physique resembles my beer drinking, couch-sitting, computer-programming Uncle. Note: You don’t exactly have to be that strong or athletic to hit a baseball a great distance. Or use steroids.

  • Bridgecrosser

@ Gambino – have you missed the entire steriods discussion from the past several years? News flash: Not all – or even most – steriods abusers in MLB fit the “ripped, bulging at the seams, muscular physique” profile. Go look back at the names on the Mitchell report. You can do better than that….

Another note on Thome. He was a .328 hitter in the minors and hit .314 and .311 in his first two seasons w/ CLE in which he player 100+ games. I think then he said – “screw it, chicks dig the long ball” and it’s been different ever since. 2190 career whiffs?

  • The Bambino

    @Bridge
Sure, he COULD have been doing roids. Of course. How the hell would I know? But I get damn tired of everyone throwing the steroid accusations everywhere. How’d Ted Williams hit 511 homers? How bout Jimmy Foxx? Or Willie Mays? Those guys weren’t that big, athletic, or genetic freaks. They were just really good at hitting a baseball. Could Thome have been juicing? Sure, of course. It’s possible. But people who have never seen the inside of a gym keep throwing out accusations just because they don’t understand what it’s like to lift some weight and eat some food and get bigger. It’s not magic. It’s hard work and natural talent combined.

  • kiddicus maximus

I doubt Thome used the ‘roids – mostly because his numbers never dropped or even drifted from their usual age trend decline. I have a graph if you wanna see it.

now if he goes up three helmet sizes and starts hitting 60/150 at age 36, I’ll jump on that bandwagon.
