Open Thread: Browns vs Houston Texans

Not too much time to provide a long opener, folks.  Quick hits: Brady’s finger is appartently “okay” enough for him to suit up.  Thankfully, Kellen Winslow will also be active to provide Quinn with another target.  In fact, only notable inactives are Shaun Smith and Travis Daniels, meaning that all of the guys we talked about here and here are good to go.

Three point favorites at home, which means that Vegas thinks this one is pre-tay even.  Hopefully, after the 4:15 PM mark, we can talk about how this win was actually a win…instead of, you know… last weeks final score.  Oh, and here’s to a week of dramaless Browns talk too!  Wishful thinking, I know.  The OBR’s Brian Tarcy thinks we pull it out by one

Follow along in the comments, folks.  Go Browns!

First play of the game and already Sage Rosenfels has 47 seconds to make his first pass.

  • Lyon

And we’re giving a 10 yd cushion on the passes too

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Craig

Terry Cousin… this is just a note to myself of a third down conversion on Terry Cousin’s watch. That’s 1 by my count with 9 mins left in the first quarter.

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Craig

If a QB’s head jerks when he is screaming HUT, guess what? It is a false start.

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Craig

And Brandon McDonald gets tooled by Walter for a touchdown on 3rd and 6. That first drive could have gone better. Bad tackling… no QB pressure and another time that McDonald gets burned for a touchdown.

On top of that, we are forced to listen to inane TV commentator banter about how Romeo added a “tackling circuit” to his practices this week due to last week’s tackling debacle in Buffalo. Really? A tackling circuit?

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Craig

The Browns just got their first first down, and this is the perfect opportunity for a J Harrison sub. Let’s see when he finally gets in.

  • Lyon

And Lew fumbles… Why not put Harrison in for that screen?
Oh right, b/c that would make sense

  • Lyon

Prevent D reigns supreme in Cleveland

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Scott

If Rogers is double and triple teamed, doesn’t that mean that we have two guys that are unblocked every play?

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Scott

    O/U for Jerome Harrison’s total touches: 9

  • Dan the Goalie

They’re getting picked apart by Sage Rosenfels, no – not Dan Marino, John Elway, Brett Favre, or even Bernie Kosar – SAGE ROSENFELS, for cryin’ out loud !! Worst defense in the history of mankind. When you can’t get off the field against Sage Rosenfels and company, it’s time to blow this thing up and start over. Goodbye Romeo, goodbye 3-4, goodbye pretty much everybody on that side of the ball save for #92.

Maybe this drive will get some points on the board and give the “defense” a much needed rest-

  • Lyon

y cant we block a guy who comes right up the middle?

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Scott

    Wimbley time machine!

  • Lyon

    ole stonehands does it again

Does anyone believe that Braylon has ONLY dropped 15 passes this season. I can think of at least 3 in each game

  • Lyon

apparently the NFL only counts ones that hit both hands and stays for 2 seconds… I can think of atleast 25.

I know it wouldn’t happen b/c of the Union, but I’d love to see him get fined for each drop… just like a fine for each missed tackle.

  • Dan the Goalie

Goodbye, Braylon ! Apparently, 5 Hour Energy doesn’t help you catch the ball. Maybe that acting career you want isn’t that far away. That ball was slightly behind him, but definitely catchable.

Brian Sipe should come back and rip that #17 jersey right off Braylon’s back. Maybe he could switch to #0, more befitting of his contribution this year-

way to give up with 3 seconds left in the half

  • Lyon

way to give up on the route Braylon. Gannon nailed it right on the head.

  • Lyon

this can’t help anything by bringing in DA. That last INT was not BQs fault. Romeo keeps screwing everything up.

  • The Bambino

    Sigh.

  • darren

i think i figured out Braylons problem…5 hour energy.

it makes you lose focus in the long run.

  • darren

    ^thats my theory, anway…

  • http://www.sundaystrategy.com Logan Cash

Just cut Braylon now. he can’t be saved

  • Lyon

Gannon is the lone bright spot in this game. Making very good points for probably the 1st time he’s done a browns game.

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Scott

    These dropped passes are mindblowing

  • The Bambino

    I wish I could quit you Cleveland…

  • Mosox

I left and missed part of the game, why is Anderson back in have they said?

  • Lyon

is there a reason BQ isn’t in? I mean he wasnt playing good, but DA is even worse. Just stop throwing to Edwards

  • The Bambino

    Nothing makes sense anymore.

  • Lyon

It’s like a car crash, you feel compelled to stay and watch.

  • Lyon

it’s not a browns game w/o a winslow pass interference

  • ryan

dont have the game here…why the hell is DA in the game??? is it BQ’s finger?

  • Mosox

Whats that two turn overs in a row?

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Scott

2 picks for DA – its like riding a bike

  • http://www.sundaystrategy.com Logan Cash

    game. set. season

  • Lyon

how do they keep saying we only have 5 dropped passes today?

  • chab631

DA sucks like always, and putting him was pure ignorance. RAC is a joke. Browns franchise is in disarray. I so much don’t want to watch them the rest of the year. Only hope I can stick to it for once.

  • AMC

This team is an embarrassment to the city and to themselves. They quit on plays and play with absolutely NO passion.

I don’t understand why doughboy felt compelled to pull BQ. Yes, he threw a couple of really bad passes, but that is going to happen. It’s not like DA didn’t deserve to get demoted in the first place.

  • SambofromOH

I wasn’t on the Fire Crennel bandwagon until today. Yes we want to win games, but we had already decided that only a miracle would save the season BEFORE we put Quinn in against Denver. We want to know what the kid has got before the season is over and we have to pay Anderson a 5 Million bonus! Why not leave Quinn in the game? If he struggles, then he struggles and hopefully gets better!

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com Craig

My bullet points are up already… I was doing them during the game today.

  • ryan

has anyone ever commited suicide on account of the browns?
