LeBron James Going Bo Jackson?

As the Browns head in to the off-season and look to add key members to positions of weakness, one of said positions is arguably wide receiver.  I think we can all agree that the Donte Stallworth signing did not work out as planned.  Joe Jurevicius’ knee is on the rebound, but will he ever be 100 percent?  And will Braylon Edwards fit in to Eric Mangini’s long term plans?

If not, I think these leaked photos may help Brady Quinn/Derek Anderson get the Browns offense back up to respectable levels…

**

Could you imagine having a 6’9″, 270 lb tight end with 4.4 40-yard dash time?  Obviously, Dan Gilbert, Danny Ferry and anyone else with money/a career invested into the Cleveland Cavaliers would not approve of such a move.  But looking at these pictures, when was the last time we had an athlete of Lebron’s nature in an orange and brown jersey?

How long until you start seeing #23 “LEBRON” jerseys at Browns around Cleveland?  I give it however long it takes for custom jersey shipping ordered today.

    I WANT ONE!

  • Chris M

No, thank you. Lebron is doing just fine with the Cavs. Can you imagine how many people would be gunning to take him out? Here’s a clue: EVERYONE.

  • Greg Oden’s Tonsils

Good luck on getting the The Hammer Goodell to let you put your first name on the back of your jersey.

  • Jay

I agree with Chris M. Under no circumstances do I want to see LeBron anywhere near a football field. Unless, of course, the Cowboys are in town.

  • http://www.dbuu.com buu

i just about clutched my heart like fred sanford when i saw those photos.

  • bridgecrosser

Why is he in Browns jersey and not a Cowboys jersey? Sports Bigamist.

  • Boomhauer

I wonder if he can be a power hitting left fielder, too.

  • Boomhauer

How sad of a statement is it about the Browns that this would probably be the #1 selling Browns jersey by the beginning of next season.

  • partyatohiostate

Haha, is that Ben Wallace in the background of the first picture? Can you imagine him gaining some weight and lining up next to Rogers???

  • Boomhauer

I just hope he doesn’t get a staff infection wearing that jersey.

  • http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/ Rick

    Boom wins…

  • Brendon

Shouldn’t he be wearing a Giants or Jets jersey, since it is a foregone conclusion he is gone??? (Sarcasm)

  • Alex

As soon as this jersey gets up on ebay i’m all over it

  • http://www.thejetsblog.com Bassett

I wonder how Travis Daniels feels about King James wearing his number …

These are things that I like to look at!

  • anonymouse

It looks like they’re filming a commercial. I wouldn’t read into it too much.

  • http://www.pronkneedsyou.com woodsmeister

I thought LBJ was a Cowboys fan when I saw him yukking it up with TO on the sidelines at Cleveland Browns Stadium earlier this season. Jason Witten is probably the guy who should be worried.

  • Insider

Unfortunately, that isn’t even LeBron, it’s a body double. The photos are from a State Farm Insurance commercial shot in Berea on the same day the Cavs were in Atlanta last month playing the Hawks.

There were dozens of those jerseys made from what I was told, so I would expect to see them pop up on eBay or craigslist sometime soon…

  • mendy

    lol, nice one boom

  • bob

every marketing concept for Lebron seems to turn to gold. i bet he could sell #23 browns jerseys or #23 indians jerseys, maybe go college after that

  • RamRod003

    Hey Insider,

It was not filmed in Berea you can see an Akron MAC championship banner in the background and I am positive that that is Lebron not a body double.

  • http://h mark

heres the deal. lebron james is doing a commercial series that has him in a dream and dreaming that he is playing for the browns. on the 18th he will announce his decision to play in the nfl. then on superbowl weekend you will see him playing for the browns and winning and superbowl. the end of the dream will have him waking up. i don’t know yet what the dream is advertising but it may be something to do with a new nike clothing line.

  • THE BRASILIAN

Mark i can see most of that from the pictures that ive seen however. Nike probably not. That is a Reebok jersey and over coat that he is wearing throught the comercial.

  • RamRod003

It could be a Nike commercial because if you remember the Nike football commercials with Ladanian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu from last year you could clearly see reebok logos on their jerseys. It just depends on who the official jersey maker is for the team.

  • Ben In Lakewood

Really anonymouse you think this is just a commercial and that we should not read too much into it. Wow very insightful comment, I think the rest of morons really thought that LeBron was going to playing football for the Browns. Come on we maybe from Cleveland but we are not stupid. I do think the jersey would be a great seller and we obviously know LeBron can take hits, though they sting much more in the NFL.

  • D-Train

if that’s a body double, dan gilbert should sign him for the rest of this season.

  • enginerd

The UniWatch blog just linked you guys. Congrats!

  • Ryan

Yes, this is for a Superbowl commerical. It was filmed at Akron’s Field House. My bro-in-law is the field house manager and told me about this before Xmas. He got to meet LBJ and see them filming. Even got a replica helmet and jersey out of it. I’m jealous!!

  • Dobosh

“Can you imagine how many people would be gunning to take him out? Here’s a clue: EVERYONE.”

Why do you say this? Seems to me in the NFL people are always gunning for the ball carrier. Lebron would be just as able to take hits as any other TE.

  • Tonicus

maybe i’m a moron but why does his jersey say “lebron” when it should say “james”?

  • jw

yes, this is for a commercial, state farm i believe (to conincide witht he “i’m there” campaign) there were several filming locations including Browns stadium.

  • Bob Shlomo

“maybe i’m a moron but why does his jersey say “lebron” when it should say “james”?”

    hahaha you’re so right tonicus!

  • Chris

Odd that nobody has mentioned that while this will never happen, it is completely credible. LeBron was an all-state receiver who was recruited to play both sports by many Division 1 teams.

  • Jay

He isn’t going to play in the NFL, why would anyone risk that much transferring sports when he already has had success in the NBA. He will reel off 8 more NBA championships after he wins his first this year. I believe the most true comment on here is the one about his commercial being part of a series for a dream he is having. He is doing a Super Bowl commercial which is why he is dressed up as a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns. He isn’t really going to play football… He could be in the dunk contest, but somebody would have leaked that information by now, so scratch that off. He could be in that stupid Oreo league or whatever with the Manning’s (especially since they have nothing to do right now). He could be doing a rap song with Lil Wayne, but I highly doubt it. I believe it is just a series of commercials, of course by Nike, that will lead to him advertising a clothing line or new shoe or something along those lines. The only reason football came up was because that Super Bowl commercial. Also, his first true love could be dunking, which won’t mean the dunk contest, but rather, dunking Oreo’s in milk! If that is the case, I, along with everyone else, will be very disappointed…

  • cleveland

if the browns change their names to the steamers good things will happen

  • Kyle

first whoever said that this was filmed in berea and that the person the pictures is a body double….go ahead and gouge your eyes out because you either can’t see already or are unable to ascertain any information from a photo…

someone already corrected you so I won’t…

Second, the LT and Troy P. commercials did not feature the actual team jerseys, they were nike jerseys that mimicked the real jerseys…

  • AirBuck

Thought you might like to know, CNNSI.com has linked to you guys. Way to go!

The link is in the Hot Clicks section.

My Aunt’s, Uncle’s, Cousin’s, dog’s, brother-in-law was in Akron’s field house for the filming of this commercial and they said this was a series of commercials that is being made for Lebron’s new not-for-profit orginzation bbfs (bad browns fight staff awareness)

  • Kyle

    airmail….

    you mean staph awareness right?

  • DPD

LJ can do wutever he pleases…He’s mega rich..If he wins a championship in Cleveland, who knows what will happen in 2010..If I was a genetic freak of nature like him I would try to pull a Bo Jackson I suppose..Not that it would happen but I bet its got Lerners gears a grindin’….

  • princess

He played football in HS…lol. He was the backup to one of my husband’s friends. How many people can say that LeBron was their backup…

  • DPD

And what does your husband do now? I am willing to bet that your husband is not 6’9″ ,271 Lbs, and can run the 40 in 4.4…..LJ is a beast, and whatever he was in H.S. is not the same person he is now….He has had professional training for a while now, so it wouldn’t be that far fetched that a young and ambitious person might want to expand their horizons…As long as he does not breech his nike contract, he’s all good…

BTW…Could you imagine any corner or DB in the NFL trying to cover this guy???? It would be like middle school corners and DB against college receivers….LOL….

    All pipe dreams though…
