Some Truth and Reason Before Bed

Back from his WFNY hiatus is Les Levine, the self-proclaimed voice of Truth and Reason in Cleveland Sports, and a friend and follower of the ours. Monday through Thursday nights, you can get you fill of what is on Les’s mind right here. Just an FYI for all of our faithful readers, I will continue making my weekly appearance on his show as well, either Wednesday or Thursday nights on Time Warner Cable channel 23.

Tonight, Les speaks on the vicious hit Willis McGahee took in last night’s AFC Championship game. Enjoy.

Why is Les not on KNR daily? His show on WHK was LEGENDARY!

I agree with Les on this point. That was a horrific and viscous hit on McGahee, who has had a tough career. Head injuries in early life are one of the most established risk factors for dementia later in life, and I just shudder when I see someone take a helmet to helmet hit like that (I study dementia). To extend from sports, the RAND research group estimated last spring that nearly 300,000 of our troops are returning from Afghanistan and Iraq w/ traumatic brain injuries. That is just inexcusable…partisan sentiments aside, we can all lament the fact that US citizens will be feeling the legacies of these wars for generations.

How about the Steeler PA system blaring Credence in the background? I don’t think that could have been any louder….

Yeah, I noticed that too. It created a surreal environment, didn’t it? I suppose you have to fill the empty space with something, but it seemed in poor taste to blare rock music that belied the gravity of the situation. Yet another (irrational) reason to hate the Steelers and the town of Pittsburgh, haha. Glad to see reports today that McGahee is ok
