Nike LeBron James Zoom VI “Taxi Cab” Edition

Most of you are well aware the Cavaliers are squaring off against the New York Knicks tonight in Madison Square Garden.  And while we have seen a bit of a decline in “LeBron 2010″ talk over the past few weeks, I am pretty sure that Nike’s new sneaker release will help stir things back up.  If you aren’t one for the Yankee hat or Cowboys t-shirt, you may just want to stop reading.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Behold the Zoom VI: Taxi Cab Edition

This pair was released exclusively in New York City, which is known for its abundance of yellow taxis, on February 4th,2009. The same day that LeBron James went head on with the New York Knicks at the worlds most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The Nike Zoom Lebron VI is one of the finest Nike Lebron models yet and this design successfully demonstrates that with the variety of high quality materials used in its production.

These kicks are said to be even rarer than the “Big Apple” edition that came out towards the end of 2008.  We have a few grabs of the shoes below.  Pay special attention to the tounge detail.  Oh, and feel free to spout off about the whole LeBron-New York bit if you’re not tired of it to this point.

Enjoy.

Does the fact that these shoes are hideous make him more likely to stay in Cleveland?

I’m heading to the game again, any special requests? Bring back photos of the taxis on takeoff?

I actually think those shoes are fantastic.

Whatever, Wade isn’t going to NYC in 2010. He also doesn’t have special NYC shoes every time he plays there. http://bit.ly/L6dXk

LeBron can be such a prissy princess. That’s also 6’8, 265. Pretty pretty princess…

With these shoes being released, it’s obvious that LeBron’s going to Pittsburgh in 2010…

  • Eric

You can’t blame him or Nike for releasing those shoes. I’d milk the 2010 talk for all it’s worth too if I could.

I wonder when the Nike Lebron James Zoom “RTA” Edition are going to come out?

  • LaundroMat

I just LOL’ed at the “RTA” Edition.

  • The Other Tim

I wonder when the Nike Lebron James Zoom “RTA” Edition are going to come out?

On his first trip back to the Q in 2010?

  • Z Force

This may be a stupid question, but was does “The Six” mean?

Even Karl Malone wearing his L.A. Gear shoes thinks these are heinous.

The Taxi edition are overpriced, have the smell of stale vomit, and sound like a Turkish bazaar….

you guys have to realize that nike is churning special editions of bron’s shoes out at a massive clip. there’s a miami version, an LA version, a st vincent st mary’s version, etc etc – this is just another in a long line of sneakers. go to kicksonfire.com and search for lebron, you’ll see. and kobe did something very similar with an in store appearance on monday.

in other words, this is about $, nothing else.

  • Lyon

Kind of unrelated, but is anyone else tired of seeing the Cavs come out on fire in the first quarter only to blow the lead by playing no D and shooting terrible shots?

We play great, then terrible, then pick it up in the 4th. We should be blowing the Knicks out right now, not only up 6. Granted, we will probably still win, but I want that step on their throat attitude.

    Re: #5

I think he is actually trying to tell us he is going back to school and playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes

    ************ 52-11-10 > 61-3-0. ***************

Amazing…. Don’t take it for granted!!!

BTW – Great Austin Carr on this old clip I found today – has LBJ blocking Yao Ming and “GET THAT WEAK STUFF OUTTA HERE!”

Just got back from the game a bit ago… I want to say that was the quietest 52-10-11 game I’ve ever seen. :)

All seriousness, and I feel like a jerk for saying this, but Lebron and the Cavs didn’t play particularly well. I don’t know why Lebron was spending 10 seconds figuring out what he wanted to do so often only to spot up a jumper, I don’t know why he wasn’t driving more – especially on Thomas when he had 5 fouls, and I don’t know why he kept taking the ball as soon as they got over the halfcourt line every set. That he still had 52 AND 11 assists is a testament to his greatness. I just really wonder what he could have done if he played it even better – 65-15-10? Better? It’s crazy just to think about.

@ Z FOrce – This is the sixth version of the Lebron sneak, endearingly referred to as the Nike Lebron James Zoom “VI” (see: roman numerals). This is something like the 7th-8th subset pair of this particular design, i.e. the Zoom VI.

They have also been pushing the catch phrase “The Six” because Lebron wears #6 for Team USA.

Not that anyone cares, but I take Kobe’s because of the defensive performance and less minutes to be efficient. But either way, both great individual performances. Looking forward to the writeup in the morning.
