ESPN to Broadcast Ohio State/USC Rematch
February 13, 2009Preview: Blue Jackets vs. Red Wings (Game 55)
February 13, 2009Things started off a little shaky, as the Lakers ended Cleveland’s home unbeaten streak. The loss, along with Sasha Pavlovic’s injury, drove Cleveland fans to the rumor wire looking for help. Amare Stoudemire was the name most associated with the Cavaliers this week.
The Cavs rebounded poorly (pun intended) by losing to Indiana for the first 2 game slide of the season. That game created quite a stir because of the mirror image fouls in the final second of the game. Some questioned LeBron’s antics, others praised Mike Brown for sticking up for his guys. The NBA certainly didn’t praise the coach, who heads to Phoenix $25K lighter in the wallet. Also heading to Phoenix is Mo Willimas, who was finally awarded an All-Star spot after Chris Bosh determined he couldn’t play due to injury. Wonder who will be the first with “the plaque for the alternates is in the ladies room” crack? I’m guessing Garnett. Oh, wait…he’s not going to be there.
The Cavs finished the week on a high note, beating the Suns (sans Steve Nash) into submission. Mo did his best LeBron impersonation, posting a career high 44 points.
The Indians moved into their new digs, or at least the pitchers and catchers did. We also did the World Baseball Classic shuffle, learning who is in and who is out. All was not good news for former Indians however.
The Browns showed some signs of intelligence by not raising season ticket prices and cutting Ken Dorsey. Of course, there are still those lingering QB questions.
The Blue Jackets picked up a big win. Or so I’m told. Where’s Dan when you need him…

You can take Marion off the books as a possible trade….he’s headed to the Raptors. Could this mean Bosh will be happy now and stay?
Next week to come?….Cavs trade for Amare’.
Better yet, let’s trade for Shaq. Check it in ESPN’s Trade Machine; it works out better for us than Amare (not to mention Shaq and Z would be an awesome rotation in the playoffs).
@tbrown
why in the world would we want shaq instead of amare!!!! seriously bro no one is gonna agree with you on that. im not gonna even go into the reasons why.
MEANWHILE ric bucher is reporting that the cavs are leading the amare sweepstakes as of today. this come from espn radio this morning and sportscenter. there is no posted info on this, but talks include sending both JJ and Andy along with wally and a first rounder. Totally worth it to build a core into the future… and to the title!
not to mention PHX would buyout Wally to save more $$$ and we’d most likely get him right back.
i’m trying to sell myself on the idea that PHX would do this trade, but it just doesn’t seem to make sense because PHX would have to extend AV at around $7-8mil/year for 4 years to keep him.
on the other hand, AV is the perfect compliment for Shaq…he hustles, defends perimeter big guys with the best of them, and doesn’t need the ball in his hands on offense. only thing he needs to add is to hit his 10 foot jumper more often.
wally, andy and JJ for amare wont work money-wise. it would work, however, if they threw in matt barnes and alando tucker (for example).
im guessing they would have to throw in barnes tucker or admundson to make it work.
please God, don’t include amundson. He would battle Wright for the last spot on the bench.
That’s just it; I don’t know if Amare is the answer for the future. At least with Shaq (who is having a great year) we get a big man who can be relied upon in the paint. Will Amare defend? Will he box out any better than J.J. Hickson? We don’t know because he rarely tries. And if playing next to Steve Nash wasn’t enough to motivate the guy, who is to say that playing next to LeBron would?
Trading for an All-Star starter sounds fun and exciting, but let’s think about this logically: why put our current team chemistry at risk when we already have (arguably) the best team in the Eastern conference?
I just don’t see how such a trade can be justified.
Any rumor with the Cavs in it is TOTAL b.s. If a trade goes down it will be something we haven’t heard of yet. Ferry and Co. like to keep their info locked up! That has to be a PHX rumor meant to try to get other teams to bite. Sorry – I’m not buying it.
deep13 – because our frontcourt has been exposed pretty badly in this last week
I think the best move the Cavs will make in the next 2 weeks is getting this guy Delonte West to play 2 guard and defend the perimeter. best part is they don’t have to give up anything.
