NFL Draft Preview: Are the Browns Tipping Their Hand with Jeremy Maclin?

The screen grab above comes from the Browns official web site.  Well, at least it did before being removed.

It is the sublink from the Cleveland Browns roster, but of Jeremy Maclin – a player that is not actually on the roster.  At least yet.

Rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is a highly-touted prospect out of Missouri who boasts speed, agility and solid pass-catching skills.  Consensus opinion has Maclin going in the first round (currently 12th overall per Scouts Inc.), but given where the Browns pick in the draft, I’m hoping that this was more of a technical error than any sort of foreshadowing.

Let’s hope they did these bios for any possible first-round pick.

God I hope this doesn’t come true.

I don’t know why but I keep thinking this is a trick… like false info being used as bait.
Or maybe a message being sent to Mr. Edwards… I don’t know.
I think I’m done speculating about the Browns instead I’m just going to wait for next year (season).

    Ha ha!

    Viva la Mankok.

  • jermaine

no way we take him that high, if we want him – drop to 12 and gain a 3rd or a 4th round i would be ok with that

  • Clown Baby

I think Millen hacked into our system.

  • Tron

    Can he play defense??

Maybe we also take Chase Daniel in the final round?

If you want a QB that plays like Roethlisberger, get a QB who LOOKS like Roethlisberger.

    I call that a look-alikes preview.

thats just silly… i think we are tryin to send curve balls to the opposition

  • Pittsburgh is for Man Lovers

    Really, would anyone be surprised?

Luckily the people who run the website are far removed from the people who would actually be charged with making this decision. I’m sure someone was testing something from a technical perspective, or something like that.

This is such a non-story. I think Winslow is still on the site too. Maybe they are bringing him back again.

I still like when the Browns site was hacked a few years back saying the Browns had signed all these free agents and none of it was true.

You’re travelling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of spin; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the ManKok Zone.

Am I the only one who thinks a little media re-direction isn’t a bad thing? NOTE: I am not condoning acts of malice.

I agree some of the Man-Kok hiring pressers was absurd (that’s on you Randolph) but some draft dodgery and free agent mis-direction is fine. But fan entitlement is a little absurd if you think you deserve more than what you’re getting.

I’ve worked on the inside of pro sports teams and it’s unfortunate (and an accepted reality) of how much work you have to do to keep things quiet. In the meantime, keep feeding Peter King crap and keep at it.

The whole Viva la Mancock thing is getting pretty tired and worn out.

    That’s what she said.

    Boom – roasted.

  • EchoWhiskey

FYI, the term is “Tipping their hand” not “Tipping their hat.” It’s a phrase with poker origins.

    Oh, and Go Blue.

THANK YOU. I knew that didn’t sound right…
