NFL Trade Rumors: Hey, Look. New York Wants Braylon Edwards
April 21, 2009While We’re Waiting… Amir’s Technical, NFL Trade Talks, and Digging Mel Kiper
April 22, 2009Game one went the Cavaliers’ way. Will tonight be a repeat? Will the Pistons find a way to slow down the L-train? Will Mo Williams become the go to guy tonight in Cleveland?
The Cavs’ march towards One Goal continues tonight!
Rick’s 5 keys to a Cavalier win-
1. Remember what got you here. (By the way, that’s solid defense.)
2. Keep the ball moving. If they run at you, get rid of it. Someone is open.
3. Let Mo and Delonte handle the PG duties. If they intend to double LeBron let them do it in the post where LeBron can split a double driving to the lane, or pass out for a perimeter shot.
4. Don’t forget Big Z. With LeBron on one side of the lane, and someone showing at the foul line Z or Andy should be able to get close looks at the basket.
5. Take care of the ball. The Pistons have to take one in Cleveland away from you. Don’t give it away.

hey does anyone know where i could catch the game online? i dont have cable and i forgot to pay my stupid 20 dollar fee for that nba.com all access broadband crap since i paid for the mlb.tv one instead.
@Regis
This is where I usually turn when I don’t get the game in my area, hope it works for you:
http://atdhe.net/index.html
In five games against the Pistons this season, LeBron is averaging 38.2 minutes, 28.2 points, 6.6 assists, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.2 steals on 46.6% shooting. He has gotten to the free thrown line 10.6 times per game, and oddly enough, is only 4-21 from threes for 19.1%.
Against all other teams on the season, he averaged 37.7 minutes, 28.6 points, 7.3 assists, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals on 49.3% shooting. He also got to the free thrown line 9.4 times per game, and shot 35.2% from threes.
So don’t expect LeBron to have such an amazing shooting night against the Pistons again tonight, as he didn’t do that well shooting-wise against them in the regular season. He usually drives it to the paint and gets fouled, as they are able to control him from being them on the three-point ball.
Someone needs to photoshop that picture so it looks like LeBron is flying and is breathing smoke. Am I crazy, or does it almost look like that from this angle?
As much as the Cavs are expected to win this game, it could also be a trap as these Pistons know how to win playoff series. I am looking forward to hopefully a good start for us so we can pull away early.
How good was that early post up by LeBron? Man he needs to do that kind of thing more often. Nobody stops him there.
This game is over, Pistons will check out if they aren’t in it after 1
Not so fast Ricky. But what kind of line-up are the Pistons using here? Strange.
Cavs up 17-12 with 2:29 left in the first…
I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Ben Wallace so far. I don’t think he’s hurting the team, and he’s had a couple nice plays that won’t show up in the box score.
Lebron. Is. A. Beast. I love how when they try to foul him with 3 guys it ends up 3 pistons on the ground and lebron just more motivated.
Plus i wonder what Andy was chirping there, but it certainly hit a soft spot lol
@Zach. Not sure what Andy said, but nothing pisses off the opposition like a little well-placed Portuguese epithet.
LeBron has looked better in the paint this game as a scorer. Hard to do that after a 13-for-20 performance for 38 points in game 1, but he has certainly done that so far.
In response to this? http://www.realgm.com/src_feature/1489/20090420/aldridge_lebron_&_utah/
“All season long, teams have elected to double James when he catches the ball in the post, despite the fact that he has little to no post skills and rarely receives the ball deep enough to turn and shoot over smaller defenders.”
Another pathetic TNT break. Barkley still can’t talk. Kenny Smith can’t admit that LeBron is the best player in the NBA–only “in the East,” quoth the sage–despite the fact that he, Smith, wrote an article in support of LeBron for the MVP.
Not enjoying Mo getting worked on the regular by Stuckey. And can Boobie think about hitting one of these 3-pt attempts please–it’s getting embarrassing. Otherwise, things are going exactly as they should in a 1-8 matchup. Hopefully this thing is settled at the end of 3 so the starters can grab some pine.
Oh, and the tech on Z was weak at best.
Maybe Kenny Smith is afraid Kobe will break up with him if he’s too sweet on LeBron.
Not just the tech B-Bo, some really weak foul calls tonight as well.
@ Cee L : The ref was in terrible position to make that questionable call, but Z and the Cavs need to stay out of fights. Or do like Verajao and provoke quietly while assuming the passive Frankenstein pose.
Pistons look frustrated as always. I know he does this like every other night, but has anyone noticed how LeBron now has 55 points on a total of 26 field goal attempts these playoffs. He is 17-26 from the field total now.
Yawn….when do the Finals start?
Noted, Rick. And that’s surprising, because according to Skip Bayless last week, the NBA will be going out of its way to make sure the refs help us out all playoffs long, so that LBJ gets a ring and “finally legitimizes the hype”
LeBron stats for the playoffs right now:
71 minutes in two games
19-30 from the field, 3-9 from threes
22-29 from the free thrown line
63 points, 17 rebounds, 11 assists
This is real big that Z and LBJ and Mo can rest the 4th quarter and get 2 more days rest. It’ll matter later on.

I’m about to flip out, can’t get cable on my big tv, only on the tv in the bedroom where the wife is already sleeping. GAAAAA.
At least the game is pretty much over.
When was the last time Pavlovic played?
29 point lead down to 11. Nice work bench. Why not leave DWest in with the chaf?
Denny, the Pistons are on a massive 21-5 run. Freak out time? Starters are back in, only up 11.
well, this is exactly what did not need to happen…..are you kidding me bench?
? not call timeout when the lead gets under 20 and slap some heads and get DWest back in the game? Really are we running low on TOs?
No one wants to shoot the ball for Cleveland.
8 point and Detroit has the ball.
This is a disaster.
Can’t even hit free throws.
7 points. This sucks.
7 points on 6 shots in 8 1/2 minutes. Lousy. Lousy 4th quarter.
The full C-Team bench were HUGE FAILURES this game. No defense, huge turnovers.
Well, the positive is, if we win this game, it’s a wake-up call, so we don’t have to have one down the road hopefully.
Detroit is all over every loose ball. Not the shift in energy you want going back to Detroit. You’ve just given them hope, after they were sinking to the abyss.
1 made field goal? Wow.
THAT was a beautiful pass–I hope BQ and DA are watching and taking notes
Darnell Jackson, PER -10. Not a good accounting for D-block.
LeBron looks pissed. I’d hate to be in that locker room.
Wow. We needed this to know we couldn’t coast through the entire playoffs.
How many offensive rebounds did the Pistons just get on that possession? Like 3?
I think the “1 made field goal” stat that the broadcasters were quoting for a while is deceptive since the Pistons have been fouling so heavily.
I mean, it was valid for a while when the bench was out there, but they continued to quote it after the starters came back and there were a ton of fouls.
I was really enjoying the beat down. Didn’t need the 4th quarter.
@DKH: They also said if we play like “This” we’re not going to win Detroit, ya if we empty the bench and play like that, not starters and main bench players. Broadcasters are dumb sometimes
I was a whole lot more confident until that 4th quarter. This team had better come out swinging in Game 3 and knock out any thoughts Detroit has of coming back quickly.
What’s the over/under on number of times the term ‘lost focus’ appears in print in regard to the Cavs in the next two days?
Before game 3 gets underway, the Cavs need to take that flame ignition routine and put it under the collective arse of the bench.
@ Rick – what # of articles are we looking at? I’d set it at 2.5 per paper/magazine etc.
Didn’t see the game, but giving up that many points is unacceptable. Doesn’t matter if it’s the bench, starters, against their scrubs, whatever. Giving up a run like that is never good. Doing it at home is even worse.
I remember it really hurt the Spurs when the Cavs did it to them in Game 2 of the Finals…
