Last Night’s Important Results
Columbus at Nashville – NSH wins, 5-4 (SO)
Well, the Jackets had the Predators on the ropes, up 3-1 in the middle of the second period. And then one (or both) of two things happened: the Predators found another gear, and/or the Jackets took their foot off the Preds’ neck. 3-3 going into the third. The Preds had a 4-3 lead, but Jason Williams scored a late goal and Columbus weathered a 4-minute Preds PP to hold on and get the OT point. Every little bit helps, I guess. But, Columbus really should have put the game away.
St. Louis at Dallas – DAL wins, 5-4(OT)
A wild one, in which St. Louis blew a bunch of leads. This muddies up the picture a bit. With the point, the Blues all but eliminated the Stars from contention. But, in losing that second point, St. Louis allowed Nashville to tie them in eighth place with 86 points; Nashville holds the eighth spot at the moment by virtue of tie-breakers. It’s going to come down to the wire.
Anaheim at San Jose – ANA wins, 5-2
Another one that doesn’t help Columbus. Anaheim is now just one point back of Columbus for sixth place, though the Jackets have a game in hand.
Tonight’s Important Matchups
Chicago at Columbus (Just need two points, baby, however you can get them)
Minnesota at Detroit (DET reg win keeps CBJ ahead of MIN for good)
San Jose at Anaheim (home-and-home for these two; SJS win helps the CBJ stay clear of ANA for 6th place)

Jackets get the loser point again. I guess any point is a good one right now, but I am getting very frustrated that we don’t have this locked up at this point. We’ve had opportunities.
I hear you. To go 63 minutes and not give up a goal, only to lose like that. Ugh… Jackets do move to 90 points though, and the magic number drops to 3.
Also, thankfully, both Anaheim and Minnesota lost. Finally, some help. Jackets are two points over Anaheim (88 pts) with a game in hand, and four points over Nashville and St. Louis (both with 86 pts).
Minnesota and Edmonton (both with 83 pts) now can no longer catch the Jackets.
