Preview: Blue Jackets vs. Red Wings (Game 3)
April 21, 2009NFL Trade Rumors: Hey, Look. New York Wants Braylon Edwards
April 21, 2009Yeah, I know. Lame format. But you know what? I’ve done it before. A couple times actually. And I like it. So here you go.
I love that the Cavs are enjoying this run. But where is Z in this video? Tell me the comedic value wouldn’t jump up 20% with Big Z in this thing? Thank you Delonte for sniffing the shoe. That was awesome. I thought I was the only one who enjoyed that ‘new sneaker smell’.
Wow did this draft sneak up on me. I guess that will happen when your basketball team is dominating the opposition. Count me as one of the confused as to what the Browns are thinking. And not just for this draft. I’ve been asked who I want the Browns to take. Let me state the obvious. I want them to take a great player. I don’t care what name is attached to that tag. I don’t even care what position he plays at this point. But what I really want to know is where the Browns are as an organization. I want that to be cleared up after this weekend. Are they trying to contend now? We’ll probably know that if they keep Quinn and Edwards, and draft defense. If they are gearing up for a run two or three years from now, I bet we get a sense of that too.
It was really nice to see the Tribe spoil New York’s party. I wish they would have won the series, but winning the opener against CC and that Sunday explosion was poetic. It just stinks that Red Sox fans got almost as much enjoyment from it.
Can we get some sort of moratorium on saying Hafner was certainly on steroids? I heard a commercial the other day for ESPN Lima with Vince Koza claiming that if Travis wasn’t on steroids than he wasn’t a sports journalist. I’m not blind, I see the weight loss as well as some muscle loss. But unless you come up with some kind of failed test maybe we can’t say such things so definitively. The man wasn’t able to lift weights all last season with the shoulder injury. I bet that has a little to do with the muscle loss. Just sayin’.
Is tonight a must win for the Pistons? If they are to win this series they will have to take one of the Cleveland games. That’s just good math. I’d be a little concerned if I were them that they might not be able to win in Detroit anyway.
Well done TD.
These are the things I want to know. Thank you Brian Windhorst for not mailing in your job. Others certainly are.
I’ve been asked about the Cleveland Sports Network that the PD started, and we have taken part in. Does this mean we are now ‘in’ with the PD? No. Does this mean that we can’t call them out if we disagree with something they write? No. It’s good exposure. It’s that simple. And Dan Labbe has been good to us in the past.
If Mike Brown is the Coach of the Year, and Danny Ferry wins Executive of the Year, and LeBron wins the Most Valuable Player award, and the Cavs win the title- is that unprecedented?

Rick, I agree about the draft, but I do not want to see a wide receiver, a position that has the least amount of impact and do not improve a team’s record (see: Detroit Lions).
I will never get sick of the love for Brian Windhorst. The dude knows how to get the job done.
Good stuff, per usual.
I like the new Sports Network feature. You guys also get linked to from “Starting Blocks” in the PD as well. Have you seen that?
I agree – drafting a WR at #5 would be incredibly disappointing. Even if we’re planning on trading Braylon before (or after) the draft, I still think we should draft a key defensive player.
“You guys also get linked to from “Starting Blocks” in the PD as well. Have you seen that?”
Yes. They (I assume it’s more than Branson at this point) have started linking to blogs instead of Cleveland.com pieces. The comments haven’t gotten much better, but I truly think that incorperating other thought is a step in the right direction. Thanks for the kind words, Mike.
Here’s the audio for Joe Beast’s (aka Joe Smith) Cavs playoff rap:

No problem and I agree that the more information that the PD uses (whether from blogs, other newspapers, etc.), the better.
“The comments haven’t gotten much better” – Wait, so people are against WFNY being linked to?
@ Mike – I think it’s more a reference to the fact that the education level in a lot of the comments on the PD site rivals that of most middle school lunchroom conversations.
The content itself on the PD can be quite good – they are paid to cover the news round the clock, while everyone here has a day job. I personally think (and think that most people will agree) it’s great that WFNY gets linked to, especially when it’s from a largely read news source like the PD.
Also, Rick – Craig called, he said he wants bullet points installed immediately in this post!
I think you hit it pretty much in the head abut Hafner. He couldn’t lift weights with an injured shoulder, plus he may have been told that one reason he injured his shoulder was that he lefted too much and lost flexibility in his shoulder at the expense of bulking up. Finally, I did read where he had seriously adjusted his eating habits, going with more chicken, etc. Let’s face it – big, bulky guys don’t have long carrerrs in baseball with some exceptions. I think he’s doing what he needs to due to prolong his carreer. No steroids now or before.
Let me say this about Pronk- it wouldn’t shock me if it ever came out that he had used something. I get that, I’m just saying that we shouldn’t claim to know for certain that he did or didn’t use something.
@Rick: I am in the minority and claim that Hafner DIDN’T take roids. Ya he is smaller but we don’t know exactly how much he weighs, plus as you said he couldn’t do much upper body because of that shoulder. As my mom likes to point out (she is fond of big burly baseball players lol) he still has massive thighs and great lower body strength.
I think if the Cavs get ALL of those awards, most importantly the Ship, then we HAVE to be mentioned as one of the greatest teams of all time. Without a doubt.
No love for winning the basketball league?????
P.S. It doesn’t matter if they Laurinitis with the first pick (won’t happen) I just want that guy to be with us for 10 years and make 8 Pro Bowls and help us get this thing turned around.
@mike and denny,
“The comments haven’t gotten much better”
– I’m pretty sure this is in reference to the Starting Blocks thing on cleveland.com The comments for Branson Wright’s articles are usually brutal, but often funny. It’s not about fans not wanting links to wfny. I think.
I don’t care which side of the ball it is on, I just hoping the Browns take someone who weighs greater than 300 lbs.
i cant believe Vince Koza said that. journalism just keeps getting less professional every day. journalists love to just say whatever they want and then hide behind the 1st amendment. it doesnt work that way. linking any player with steroids without some kind of substantiating proof is borderline defamatory. i would LOVE to see a player sue espn or some other media outlet for defamation when someone loosely links that player to steroid use, like that did with hafner.
