    with Boldin in the mix, I don’t think it changes things too much. Philly still needs a big play WR, just like a couple other teams around the league.

    I kind of agree with Cleveland Frowns. I thought for karmic purposes you had to try and win that game. Especially considering that our dread rivals, the Boston Celtics, hold the distinction of holding that record. If that record was held by the Milwaukee Bucks than you let it slide but not the Celtics…

    Nicko: Born and raised in Akron since 1978. My grandpa died on the same day of the Drive. I was up in my room crying about the Browns loss (mom said I could have a Super Bowl party right before the Drive started — first party I was ever allowed to invite friends from school to b/c my birthday is in the summer) — when my sister knocked on the door to tell me about it, and I was still more upset about the Browns because my grandpa lived in another country, couldn’t speak English, and I never saw him anyway.

    I remember exactly where I was and who I was with for the Fumble, the Shot, and the Ninth Inning.

    Can understand your disagreement on Brown’s decision, but “probably been a fan for five years” hurts, man.

    Can we put this notion of “blowing out the bench” to rest. You have 4 guys averaging less than 20min of burn play for 40 min in ONE game. So now they are burnt out and worthless. Please think just a little people.

    My feeling is this:

    The record means nothing. It’d be great to be “tied for the best home record of all time” and have LeBron get hurt and have the team bounced in the conference semis. The example I cited both yesterday and in e-mail discussion about this this morning is:

    Who remembers that the 2001 Mariners won 116 games (most in MLB history)? Hardly anyone. Why? Because the Mariners got bounced in the ALCS by the Yankees.

    And the other point is this: I choose to find encouragement that basically the last seven guys off of our bench took a team playing to improve their seeding into OT, and had a chance to win it (had the Slip Monster not grabbed Boobie’s foot). Some of those guys are going to play a role in the playoffs. Seriously, you don’t find that encouraging?

    I was thinking the same thing. But how big of a slap would it be to replace one of those guys in OT after West sat the entire half? I guess there are a lot of variables involved.

    Look at it this way, playground ball made it to OT and lost by only one against a full lineup from the opposition.

    If we lose in the finals to the lakers, we got nothing. We play the starters for one quarter, we have [a tie for] the record in the bank.

    The think I don’t like about punting on the record is that is says that “nothing matters but the championship”. I disagree. Records matter, and giving the fans who bought tickets to the game matters too.

    @Scott at #2… not last year’s playoffs. That’s at least the season before. First round last year vs Wiz the freebie T’s were yellow. Second round vs Celts they did wine and navy and laid them on your seats, alternating sections to give the arena a checkerboard look.

    Looks like 2007 Eastern Conference Finals to me… wine-colored “Beat Detroit” T’s.

    @ Scott – the RISE UP in the rafters should confirm it. They also gave this photo out in a giveaway as a mousepad or something likethat early last season, so it was not taken last year.
