Even a few days later and I’m still struggling with the point that we almost swepth the Red Sox, only to win one of three. Cliff Lee was solid, Kerry Wood was not. Fausto Carmon was solid, Rafael Betancourt was not. Sigh.
Good news is that Rafael Perez looks like he’s starting to come around. Victor Martinez is nine one-hundreths of a percent away from the lead amongst AL hitters. Asdrubal Cabrera is 16th in the league. I could mention that Jhonny Peralta and Grady Sizemore are both in the top five in strikeouts, but that’d just ruin the mood.
With a day off, we should be heading to Detroit with a well-rested bullpen. Hot Carl Pavano doesn’t exactly have the best match-up of the series which makes me nervous. Verlander’s nine strikeouts against the Yankees doesn’t exactly make me feel great either. Have I mentioned that our active roster has 14 (fourteen!!) pitchers on it? Speaking of…

News and Notes:
– Our big league pitchers may be struggling, but Hector Rondon is mowing them down in Double-A Akron. He’s now 4-0 with an ERA of 1.17. His last outing, Rondon struck out nine in six and two-thirds innings. Not bad, kid.
– Adam Miller’s rehab is slated to take nine months. Set your calendars so we can all start wishing come next February.
– Hey, look! It’s the match-up of the low average, power-hitting lead-off hitters! Curtis Granderson has seven home runs, and is batting .241. The abovementioned Sizemore has six and is batting .239. Wonderful.
– A great piece on Tony Sipp and the life he hadback in Mississippi. Good kid, that Tony Sipp.
– Anthony Castrovince predicts a David Dellucci sighting this weekend. TD just threw something.

“Hot Carl” – funny.
So how much longer do we have to wait for Eric Wedge to get canned? Do we have to wait until they can’t even make a run at the pathetic Central Division crown or can we just jump the gun, fire him now and get this team back on track? I just get so frustrated watching these guys these days.
