Carlos Carrasco to get the Call

carlos-carrasco-flickrNothing better than an alliteration on a Wednesday afternoon, especially one that may help us feel a little better about the whole Cliff Lee trade situation.  In due time, anyway…

Anthony Castrovince reports that Carlos Carrasco (along with Lou Marson) will be in Cleveland come September.  Had Jason Donald not hit the shelf with back spasms, we may have seen him as well to get a head start on Operation “Let’s hope Shapiro knows something we don’t.”

As DP mentioned yesterday, Carrasco recently took his first loss with the Clippers following a wave of solid outings. Carrasco has now made five starts, going 4-1 with a 3.57 ERA/0.93 WHIP across 35.1 innings. He has allowed 27 hits, walked only six batters while fanning 33.  Not too shabby.

For an update on the rest of the Triple-A possible call-ups, make sure you catch DP’s latest.  Others that Indians fans will see come the fall are likely to be Jordan Brown, Jose Veras and perhaps Hector Rondon – who started the season with the Arkon Aeros in Double-A.  Carrasco and Rondon: the rotation of the future, ladies and gentlemen.  Just not as far in the future as you may think.

on a side note Laporta hit a bomb today…

I am interested to see these two…Carrasco and Rondon…I will continue to go to games just to see the kids play!!!

Hey fans of the feather! Anyone have an idea why the Cleveland Indians are the 9th most searched phrase on Yahoo today?

Another side note: the AP article writeup of today’s win is… odd.

“Most of the game was nondescript, as might be expected of two teams with little left to play for. [...] In between? Lots of lazy pop-ups, routine grounders, a few strikeouts, the occasional grounder through the infield.”

Um, doesn’t that last sentence describe 150 or so of every team’s 162 games?

You’d almost think John Marshall wasn’t getting paid to watch a game for a living.

The team bus was in an accident on the way to the game. That is why it was so high in the Yahoo search today.

I thought it was because Chris Gimenez got the start today…but your answer seems much more likely.

  • JD

    Also, fun fact!

Chris Gimenez has the lowest batting average of any MLB player with at least 100 ABs this year, sinking to .155 with his 0-4 (with 3K) performance today.

The next closest is Philly’s Eric Bruntlett (he of unassisted triple play fame), batting a comparatively robust .167.

Thank goodness LaPorta is finally in Cleveland and getting this stiff’s ABs.

  • Ben

Amazing what happens when LaPorta plays everyday. I think we have an outfield going forward. This team is not as bad as the record indicates (Wedge) and had they made the move in May like the Rockies things might be different now.

Jordan Brown is going to egg Gimenez’s house this off-season.
