OSU Football – A Season On The Brink Of…
August 14, 2009While We’re Waiting…Browns Preseason Starts, Pryor’s 40 Time, Comparing OSU and PSU
August 15, 2009LeBron’s film tour made its first stop in Chicago earlier this week, and came to DC last night for stop number two. The film was shown at the Regal Cinema in Gallery Place and was attended by John Thompson Jr, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant among others. Today, the tour held pickup games and a kids’ camp at H and 11th Ave NW. (It’s still open until 6 if you are in DC and scurry on over to Metro Center). The day also served as a sports camp for local DMV kids.
Reader/commenter/goatee enthusiast Eli stopped by to check things out and sent in these photos. Included are some of the stadium treatments, the Chicago custom LeBron VIIs (which I could do without) and the DC VIIs as well (which I absolutely love). Eli’s take and more photos after the jump.
I attended the events this afternoon from 12:30 to about 1:45. It was a decent time, got to watch some local kids play a little full court with some DJ’s blaring their usual nonsense. What struck me as cool were how many school aged kids where there for camps and all the swag Nike was handing out to them. The event had all sorts of things for them, from shoe-whitening (nice), to temp-tattoos, free haircuts at a tent barbershop complete with leather barber chairs, to even a Mo-Cap booth where they made a quick little video of you throwing a pass to Lebron (from his St. Mary’s days) as he goes in for a jam. It really seemed less of a “lets push this movie and throw our corporate brand everywhere”, and more about making sure the kids were having a good time. But that may have just been because it was the middle of the afternoon on a workday. Anyway, here at the pics I took.
For the shoes, they had both DC’s and Chicago’s (Chicago’s were definitely lame). They also had little placards with the “official themes” of each visit of the tour.
Here are the DC Shoes and the inspiration behind them:

Here’s some scenes from around the court area, including a local girls’ team game and an ironic shirt:

Awesome stuff Eli.
Good day for the kids!
That first pic is my desktop background now.
lol “goatee enthusiast” I wish I’d known about this I probably would have hopped on the metro and burned a little sick leave at work. Nice pics Eli.
BQ McBP – I wasn’t sure if you’re around DC or not. Send me an email and I’ll add you to my WFNY East list. Sounds like we have some interest in hitting the Tribe/O’s game in two weeks.
I’ll be at all 3 games! Had the tickets since they went on sale…figuring we’d be doing a little better than we are lol. Look for the really tall guy in either a Manny Ramirez or Albert Belle jersey drinking lots of beer 🙂
