Cleveland Answered Sal Fasano’s Prayers

One has a reputation of being about team-first, but also having zero rings. The other has proven to be about him, but is the proud winner of four championships. One draws attention due to his natural charisma and ability to awe on the court. The other now gets attention through dissing old teammates and trying to keep down the next big thing in the post. One has only played for his hometown team. The other will be playing for his fifth team with relatively short stays in his previous two stops.” [Barkley’s Mouth]

“[William “World Wide”] Wesley is close to so many people in the NBA … it’s hard to know what his involvement with [Eddy] Curry means about [LeBron] James’ future. For example: Wesley is also close to Jay-Z who is a part-owner in the Nets. And I have even heard that he’s close to Dan Gilbert, who owns the Cavaliers — after all, they’re both in the mortgage business.” [Henry Abbott/TrueHoop]

“There isn’t much left to say about this current group of Indians, but browsing through the historical roster for one reason or another the other day, I started chuckling at a couple of names. One thing led to another and suddenly I was scribbling down my favorites. They’re presented here to you in no particular order or context, and also free of all my “jokes,” which should make things easier and more pleasurable for everyone.” [Vince Grzegorek/’64 and Counting]

“This franchise has come full circle since it reappeared in 1999 with an expansion label after being wronged by the National Football League. Since then, with a few notable exceptions, it has been a torturous adventure as Cleveland attempts to regain its proud pro football heritage. The great fans of Cleveland do not deserve it as they watch their team smeared, maligned and ridiculed on almost a daily basis.” [Rich Passan/The OBR]

I have never been this excited for the beginning of basketball season:
1) The Cavs have never had a better shot at a championship (on paper)
2) The other Cleveland sports teams have never been this terrible simultaneously
Always love the OBR posts. Great read
All we know so far is that Shaq is saying all the right things and clearly comes in with the right mindset. That in itself is huge. There is a symbiotic effect taking place here-both Shaq and LeBron NEED each other, at least for one dynamic season. So far so good………play on CAVS!
I’ll be at the Cavs preview of the Lebron movie “More Than A Game” in Valley View tomorrow. The Cavs continue as always to treat their ticket holders of even the lowliest of nosebleed seats with first class amenities.
1. To the excellent list of excellent Tribe names, I’d like to add Braggo Roth, who played for us from 1915 through 1918.
2. Nothing the Cavs do for the next eight months makes any difference. The only thing that matters is what they do next June.
I don’t understand this shaq thing at all. In L.A. he didn’t get along with Kobe, guess who else gets along with Kobe, ummm no one. Where was the dissent in Miami? I never got that vibe during their run. Fine, Phoenix didn’t work out but everyone instantly pegged it as a terribly mismatched trade in the first place.
Shaq has tons of charisma. He’s also shown the ability to make those around him better. There is no reason to think he won’t fit in and this non-story is getting annoying.
Swig-no argument. Frankly, it’s not Shaq but rather LeBron’s ego that will need a check point.
So how many people will also be at Valley View to go to the movies with Isis.
