Browns By The Numbers

Just a little fun heading into this weekend’s game against the Steelers…

Abram Elam, Eric Mangini2- Touchdown passes this season. One thrown by Quinn, one thrown by Anderson.

0- Touchdown receptions by Wide Receivers this season. Heiden and Royal (TEs) have the only catches for scores.

8- Interceptions thrown this season. Three from Quinn, five from Anderson.

3.59- Average yards per carry for everyone on the team not named Josh Cribbs.

9.3- Yep. Yards per carry for Josh Cribbs.

6- Total carries for Josh Cribbs.

31- Longest play from scrimmage for the Browns this year. It was a Josh Cribbs rush.

0- Rushing touchdowns for Cleveland Running Backs this season.

1- Rushing touchdowns for all other Cleveland players this season (Derek Anderson).

100%- Success rate for Browns’ kickers this season. Dawson 4 for 4 FGs, 2 for 2 XPs. Cundiff 5 for 5 FGs, 2 for 2 XPs.

11.0- Average number of points per game for Cleveland this season.

22.6- Average points scored for Pittsburgh this season.

26%- Third down conversion rate for Cleveland. (Above only Oakland and Kansas City.)

That was depressing. How about some defensive numbers?

24.2- Average points allowed.

23- Place that ranks among all 32 teams.

380.2- Yards per game allowed.

9- Sacks by Cleveland players.

4- Sacks by Jets players.

2- Sacks by Browns players that used to be Jets. (Come on, that’s funny right there!)

18- Punts downed inside the 20. First in the NFL! We’re number one! We’re number one!

  • Rison to the top

    Zastudil to the Pro Bowl!

Also I wish you put 3-and-outs on there. Our offense has to be on the top of that list.

  • Pittsburgh is for Man Lovers

We jumped like 8 spots in points allowed after the Buffalo game! 23 with a bullet!

  • MrCleaveland

I’m thinking of taking Pittsburgh in the Last Man Standing pool because they seem to be a lock. On the other hand, I don’t want to root against myself.

Ah, the perils of being a Browns fan.

  • Whipjacka

I refuse to pick against the browns. That doesn’t mean that I picked the browns for any of the LMS pool games either.

  • The Bambino

Those numbers make me sick inside. Sick.

  • brwnsgrl

So our kickers have outscored our QBs by 13 points…not to mention that our punter is probably our best player. Yeah, I’m looking forward to Sunday’s game.

So what this says that we should build our team on special teams talent. Maybe we should trade some more starting talent for a few more special teams guys. Rogers, Harrison, Quinn, Wright? We could have an all-pro Bowl special teams unit and be first in one thing!

i always enjoy our fantasy draft watching steelers and ravens players go undrafted until very late, at which point we give em hell for picking them at all.
