Jim Brown: Michael Crabtree’s Holdout is “Totally Ridiculous”
October 2, 2009While We’re Waiting: Farewells to the Grind, Buckeyes Preview, Ohio State LeBron Shoes, and a KG update
October 3, 2009Of their six featured articles, three explicitly refer to LeBron James. In the main article regarding Chris Duhon, the crux revolves around the Knicks’ inability to improve their point guard situation because of 2010.
Oh, and there’s that whole “countdown” to LeBron’s free agency in the left sidebar. Tampering much? Nope, not over the top at all. Especially for the next 270-plus days…

WELL WE MIGHT AS WELL TRADE HIM SO WE CAN GET SOMETHING OUT OF HIM.
As I said over at the RCF Message Boards: “This is so pathetic. If I were a Knicks fan, I’d be so pissed that my team was sacrificing competitiveness for a pipe dream. If they don’t land (which they won’t) LeBron or any other free agent, where does that leave them?
It’s even worse than being a fan of the Indians, who at least have the cheap owner excuse. The Knicks could easily build a team on good FAs and high draft picks, yet they’ve chosen to continually mortgage their future for the last three years in the hopes of getting LeBron. I’d have given up on them a LONG time ago if I were a Knicks fan.”
@JK wrong team. You’re thinking Tribe…
Thankfully, the Cavs only play the Knicks once at MSG, on November 6, so it will be out of the way early in the season.
Wednesday night on Les Levine’s show, Windhorst said the most likely scenario is that LeBron would sign a 3-year deal with the Cavs this summer, giving the Knicks time to get better and the Nets time to move to Brooklyn.
Oh, well that makes me feel better about the whole situation…
My favorite part of these comments is that Jordan’s link goes to Farmersonly.com…
Bravo.
If LeBron only signs for 3 years, I will be pissed. I’m sure I’d take it over the alternative, but give me a damn break. I hope Windhorst is wrong on this one.
jesus I just almost had a heart attack thinking about Shapiro being the Cavs GM.
we would trade lebron for 2 draft picks and cutino mobley
@ steve – No, he’d also get an NBDL player with a bad shoulder and then sign Wally Szerbiak to a 3 year, $9 million dollar deal.
the william wesley “connection” is ridiculous. #1, this guy has “close friends” on every single team. thats why he is worldwide les. its not like the knicks are special in this regard. #2, im sure wes is a close friend and confidant of LBJ, but so is his mom and apparently she wants him to stay in Cle. #3, so what if wes is friends with curry’s agent? everything out of NYC has been how they have to get rid of curry and his contract to have a shot at lbj. now that it seems nyc has finally realized that it will be utterly impossible to get rid of curry, all of sudden curry is this oh-so-valuable asset to have in order to land lebron. ugh
its not tampering since this isnt the knicks official website. its just the daily news – the worst tabloid/paper out there. id call it wishful thinking more than tampering.
I think Windy’s probably right. LeBron is probably never going to sign a long term deal. It’s just a different age – he wants to hold the Cavs accountable and he likes having the flexibility.
@12:
And the attention…
“I think Windy’s probably right. LeBron is probably never going to sign a long term deal. It’s just a different age – he wants to hold the Cavs accountable and he likes having the attention.”
/fixed
Lebron has always (as of the last couple years) been preaching that he likes to keep his options open and by signing a 3 year deal, it allows him to do that and also forces Ferry to continue to put players around Lebron and make them competitive. I would prefer a long-term deal, but I’ll take a 3 yr deal over him leaving for the Knicks or Nets.
the problem with a 3 year deal is it doesn’t give a lot of confidence to other free agents about the cavs stability. thats what hurt them this off season
@Craig: That’s been there for a LONG time. Remember, you don’t have to be lonely…
Let em’ be obsessed all they want, Lebron ain’t goin nowhere-BOOK IT.
It’s that simple. Go see “More Than A Game” and it’ll be even clearer.
I’ve seen MTAG. There is nothing in that film that makes me think he’s going or staying. His loyalty is to Akron. Not Cleveland. They haven’t experienced an East Coast Megalopolis situation yet – there’s plenty of space in between the cities leaving them distinct and separate.
Also “Ain’t goin nowhere” actually means that he is, in fact, going somewhere. You’ve been BOOKED by the grammar police!!!
If we respond to this crap from the NY Daily News (a rag no one reads and is good for only one thing – wiping your baby’s H1N1 snot away…I’m in Manhattan currently; I actually saw this on the F train yesterday), then the terrorist’s have won (i.e., obnoxious ‘reporters’ in nyc trying to get a rise out of a group of fans whose hope for success is on life-support).
…and @ Trickles:
We really missed the opportunity for a phenom reference there. It may have been an allusion – if so, BRAVO!
If not…
….@ JK wrong team. ‘You’re talkin’ baseball, Indians baseball! You’re talkin’ Trriiiibbeee!’
Isis, your “Book It” doesn’t make me feel any better believe it or not…
Well, Rick, he’s “booked” so many other things that it’s kind of lost its oomph.
