October 4, 2009The Buckeyes play in Bloomington tonight at 7PM (on the Big Ten Network), facing Bill Lynch’s Hoosier squad. The Hoosiers are coming off a tough, tough loss at Michigan last week that ended in controversial (though correct, it turns out) fashion. There has been a lot of talk of a much improved Indiana team based on their performance last week at Michigan, but it seems that Michigan is in fact not as good as believed based on their struggles with Sparticus today (note – I wrote this at 3 just after UM forced overtime). Also, this makes Indiana even more of an enigma.
As discussed this week, senior captain/safety extraordinare Kurt Coleman is out due to suspension by the B11. The loss of Coleman is huge, but shouldn’t hurt the Buckeyes too much. With all due respect to Indiana’s pistol formation, the Buckeyes’ defense is stout – like, a deep, dark, delicious, frosty and aromatic stout. This pistol is not an option look – Indiana’s QB either hands the ball off or passes, so the nightmares caused by Navy shouldn’t return this week. I expect the Hoosiers to score about 10 points on the Buckeyes. With Coleman out I don’t see another shutout being pitched, but lord knows I am wrong sometimes.
Offensively it’ll be more of the same, which means figuring out whether or not this team can move the ball with consistency. Included in this is whether or not TP can avoid crapping himself under pressure.
So as always keep it clean, enjoy the game. I won’t be watching, sans BTN 🙁
