Delonte West Returns to Cavaliers Practice
October 14, 2009Tribe News: LaPorta Goes Under the Knife
October 14, 2009Last year, we were pretty excited to learn that we had won Scene Magazine’s “Best Sports Blog” of 2008. We had just started this here site a few months prior, so getting an award before our first birthday was pretty exciting. Since then, it has been nothing but growth in terms of readership, communityand team coverage.
With that said, we are proud to announce that we’ve been voted as “Best Local Blog” in this year’s Reader’s Choice section. While there were not a formal category for Best Sports Blog this year, getting Reader’s Choice honors means that it was you guys – and not the actual magazine – that spoke up. Either that, or Denny stuffed the ballot box one night after hitting up a DC bar.
Regardless, we’re pretty pleased with how things have come along in this very quick year and a half. Without the readers, this wouldn’t be possible – so I think I can safely speak for the site when I say thank you all. Here’s to many more Thirsty Thursday’s in Akron with a few wins sprinkled in here and there. Oh, and a championship would be nice as well. For the entire list of the Best Of recipients, head to CleveScene. Here’s to another one in 2010…
Cheers.

Waiting For Next Year
…To decide what to change the name to when the Cavs hang a banner
Congrats Fellas!! You are always a part of my daily reading.
Way to go , guys. As a transplanted Clevelander I am grateful for the information you provide along with the great comments ( yes, even Isis can be interesting).
THANK YOU!!!!!
HIGH FIVES to you all ! I have enjoyed reading the articles on this site since I stumbled upon it about 6 months ago. Some are good thought provoking pieces and others are just good news worthy articles !
I commend you and thank you for your hard work and for allowing us readers to post our comments and share our love of Cleveland sports with others like us.
Kudos !
Congratulations guys. My comment last week that certain people have never heard of this place now looks even more insane. Thanks for having a great site for Cleveland fans everywhere to come and grieve together.
Way to go, guys! A very well deserved honor! Game balls to all of you.

Congratulations!!! This site gets me through some long days at school, far removed from beautiful Cleveland. It makes me feel at home even when I’m hundreds of miles away, amongst Chicago and New York and LA fans. Its great to have a spectacular blog to get reliable info from…especially seeing how biased ESPN is against us.
I’ve been reading this site (almost daily) since May of last year, but have never posted… So my first post is to congratulate and thank you!
congrats guys, nice validation. Love the blog and the community you’ve formed here and agree w/ above comments that it is good reading for a transplanted Clevelander
Any time that I can be a part of something that gets mentioned in the same list as Melt Bar and Grilled, I am a happy man!
Serious thanks to anyone who voted!
@Chris: Good point, there’s so many cool names to pick from if/when the Cavs bring it home this year. I’d just stick with Waiting for Next Year though, it’s so much a part of our Cleveland ethos that it would seem inappropriate to take it away.
Congratulations all around. This really has become THE place for me to keep up with the home teams from a thousand miles away. Keep up the great work!
Congrats guys. I’m living in N.C. right now and this helps me get my Cleveland/Columbus sports fix. It’s been a good couple days for you guys, with the “Reader’s Choice” award and getting a source cred (for the most part, talking to you ESPN) for the BQ Home For Sale article.
Keep up the great work. Any possible shirts in the works, celebrating the award?
Congrats on the award! Much like Oppie I am living in VA and this site is how I get my Cleveland/Columbus sports fix as well and I enjoy reading the site every day.
Tres cool.
Not unexpected.
Congrats and deservedly so. There is no better forum for legit cle/cbus sports coverage. Keep up the good work!
Congrats you kool-aid drinking bunker dwellers!!! You woulda had one more vote here if I had known anything about these elections…
Congrats, guys. I’m living in southern KY so I’m here everyday keeping up with the Cleveland teams. Thanks for all your work in this.
It’s ridiculously hard and takes some serious dedication to keep any blog going, let alone a good one. I enjoy the site. Thanks and well deserved.
Well deserved and congrats! It makes Cleveland a little closer to DC having a site like this to visit.
Congrats from the Windy City.
I found you guys due to my brother-in-law posting that Chick-fil-A pic from Oct. 1st on Facebook. Now I visit every day.
Congrats on the award!
Congratulations from a transplanted Clevander in LA who reads your site daily. Seriously, I come here and check back daily, often, before even going to the PD site. You guys do a terrific job.
Congratulations guys…….great job and fantastic well deserved pub.
Awesome site – since discovering it I’ve told many of my Columbus-based, Cleveland sports fan friends about it! Keep up the great work.
Long time reader and for my first post I’d like to congratulate you all. You guys really deserve this.
I am a bit saddened however, I feel that this will encourage Isis even more. sigh.
You’re Welcome. (but seriously…)
Congrats to the entire WFNY staff. There is no better Cleveland sports blog on the web. This site has moved ahead of work emails in my morning ritual. Thanks for a fantastic product, insightful stories, and a little humor along the way. I’d also like to say thank you to all the commentors (yes, all of them). They provided me with some new insight, different opinions, and a lot of humor as well.
Next up, a NATIONAL Award!
I look forward to reading the site EVERYDAY. Keep up the good work fellas.
Congratulations, well deserved!
Congrats, have loved the blog since I discovered it myself at its inception. Well deserved, hopefully by July 2010 there will be a call for a name change!
No name change, please, whatever miracle may occur.
Good work! Best wishes for the upcoming year. May we see an NBA championship and many more punts inside the 20 yard line!
Congrats Guys! Well deserved.
Congratulations. Today was the first time I had seen your blog.
You actually dethroned me, as my blog won this award last year. I actually just put a nice congratulatory message up for you so my readers could see it as well.
I like your blog and plan to start following it regularly. You seem to have a great following. Again, congratulations!

Congrats guys, a well deserved award for such a quality site.
This was a hard year for all us ‘waiting’ as you kept us together as we have become as your blog describes. Congratulations and thanks for always giving us a good read.
