Cavs 102 Wizards 90: A Turning Point?

“So why this head now? There are two primary competing views. One holds that Lerner finally recognized a supposed mistake in hiring a coach before a GM this off-season, and now seeks to remedy that failure and install a GM who’d serve as an adequate “check and balance” on Eric Mangini’s power. The other, we think better, view is that the decision to dump Kokinis was more a vote of confidence in Mangini than an assault on his power. There are credible reports that the Mangini/Kokinis relationship was doomed from the start — that Kokinis was promised final say on personnel decisions when hired but was nevertheless forced to take a back seat to Mangini, thus poisoning the relationship between the two. This view is supported by Kokinis’ virtual invisibility since joining the franchise.” [Cleveland Frowns]

“Don’t lie. How many of you out there were estatic beyond belief in hearing that a competent, experienced football person such as Accorsi – and also, one with local ties – was coming in to right the ship? How many of you had visions of the Marty Ball era returning to Cleveland? Or, if you take the next logical step – perhaps some type of Cleveland reunion between another of the principles of the Browns’ late 1980’s run – one Bill Cowher? Well, forget all that. Because as of right now, no self-respecting, veteran general manager would want any part of the mess currently being spilled in Cleveland.” [Cleveland Reboot]

“There was another matter that was happening below the surface, though. In the third quarter, Delonte West became angry about a non-call and spent the next several possessions arguing with the officials. Then he committed a hard foul on Mike Miller and glared at the official. Mike Brown instantly took him out of the game and never brought him back, though it made it easier because Daniel Gibson was playing well. In the first game, Delonte was hit with a technical foul. On top of his bipolar disorder, West has anger management issues. He’s had trouble with officials in the past. Two games in, he is obviously teetering.” [Brian Windhorst]

how hard is it to get Delonte on some meds – seriously. I understand that the way he is acting is a result of his bipoloar-ism(?); but a large percentage of people have received the same diagnosis & w/ meds+therapy refrain from going all road warrior.
I love Delonte, and it’s the beginning of the season, but get the guy some medication already.
The non-foul that West was upset about should have been called, no doubt about it and he was right to be upset. They did a closeup on him a little later and he was having a very animated conversation with….I don’t know, James was in the area. I have a hard time believing that he was talking directly to a ref because he was T’d. MB did the right thing by getting him out of there because he looked ready to explode. The reassuring part is that he looked to be in good spirits on the bench later on.
Maybe a few more tattoos will help.
more tattoos always help
The one that sticks out in my mind was his steal on Arenas that was called a reach-in. Not sure if that’s the one Windy’s talking about, but it was a pretty terrible call. That said, there were plenty of terrible calls to go around all night.
Casinos! We can all hope that the shameless promoting of Issue 3 by the Cavs and Dan Gilbert will now come to an end and not be replaced by yet to be conceived casino ads.
I for one can’t wait until the stupid casino RUINS the Arena District here in Columbus.
More likely we’ll have Andy V. telling us to hit up Danny’s Casino joint for some sweet slots action. Oooooh yeaaaaaa.
Oh he should get Z to promote it to subtly enforce the fact that the Eastern European mob is enforcing casino rules.
DP: are they planning on putting a casino in the Arena District down in the Bus?
I love reading the Wizards’ fans comments on the recaps of the game. Most of them failed to miss the fact that they took 17 more free throws than the Cavs. There were bad calls both ways. Good teams find a way to play through it.

Maybe it’s not the medication but instead Delonte’s not managing it properly? It’s entirely possible he’s being given all the medication he needs but he has to also hold himself a little accountable if for some reason he isn’t taking them properly or at all.
Regardless I hope he gets himself better because I am with the majority in believing we need him to have great success on this team and we definitely hurt without him.
DP that was my one hang up for voting for the casino issue … Columbus doesn’t need one whatsoever the arena district is fine as it is
However, putting one in the Flats and the building of a new Convention Center will be quite welcome additions
And for Cincy and Toldeo … well I could honestly give a crap
Okay enough political conversation for me
The arena district? 🙁
As much as I love partying in Vegas I don’t want that #$% downtown.
That was my understanding from what I read. One of many reasons I didn’t vote for Issue 3. The others, I won’t get into now. Wrong forum. 🙂
