Mike Brown Is An Evil Genius, Or How The Cavaliers Came Together As A Team…For Now
December 3, 2009Buckeyes’ Rose Bowl Opponent Determined Tonight
December 3, 2009The Big Ten should be proud this morning. Last night, they won their first Big Ten vs. ACC Challenge. The Big Ten obviously isn’t known as a basketball conference. The Buckeyes have been pretty good in recent years, and Illinois, and Michigan State are pretty consistently good. Wisconsin seems to be more surprisingly good every year even though it is seemingly every year that they “surprise” us. No matter, though. This is the first time the Big Ten has beaten the ACC in the three years of the competition. So here is a rundown of the highlights.
First, the Buckeyes rolled through Florida State 77-64. The Buckeyes had an 11 point lead at halftime on their way to a 13 point victory overall. The stars of the game were Jon Diebler and Evan Turner. Diebler was on from three point land last night hitting 6-12 from beyond the arc. He only took one two-point shot and missed it. That makes me laugh. 6-12 from three, and 6-13 from the field overall. Either way, he had 22 points on the night. The real star was Evan Turner. Turner stuffed the box score with 25 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The Buckeyes game was certainly not the highlight of the night, though.
Wisconsin defeated Duke 73-69! Psych. That wasn’t the highlight of the night either. But Wisconsin did impress a lot of people just the same. On any other night Wisconsin defeating those hated Blue Devils would have stolen the show. Last night’s highlight of the night was provided by Illinois, who defeated Clemson 76-74 after mounting a nearly impossible 23-point comeback. 19th ranked Clemson can’t be very happy with themselves this morning. Clemson led 47-27 at halftime and appeared to be rolling. Early in the second half, the lead grew to that 23-point margin. The craziest thing of all is that you would think the Illini would have had to be bombing from three in order to make that push. For the night, they only hit 6 shots from three on 14 attempts. The Illini mounted an impressive comeback to defeat Clemson and give the Big Ten the victory.
In other games, Miami defeated Minnesota 63-58, and Boston College beat Michigan 62-58.

The ACC Big 10 Challenge has been a competition for 11 years — the Big Ten is now 1-10. So let’s not start s***ing each other’s d****, just yet.
If the Big Ten wins the next 25 challenges, I still want us to take Dingo J’s advice…
Mood on Duke campus isn’t too great today. There were some fun, good games to watch yesterday, though. That Illinois game was crazy, and Duke was just completely outplayed. Fun times since the Cavs aren’t televised here.
historically….the ACC is the best basketball conference…the Big10 is the 3rd at best (pretty close with the BigXII/Pac10 and behind the Big East).
so, having a year where we take out the ACC is pretty significant and fun…I’ll take it.
also, I love that the Big10 was able to win the challenge and Michigan lost to an unranked BC team. Right after they lost to an unranked Alabama team.
Hope you enjoyed that #13 preseason ranking while it lasted Wolverine fans 🙂
Let’s not forget Northwestern beating N.C. State!
Sacking each other’s dates?
I don’t get it.
Today the role of Winston Wolfe will be played by Dingo J–well done, sir.
I could have sworn I heard Jim Jackson call this the third challenge last night on TV. Oh well. Sorry for the mistake, people.
congrats to the Big Ten, we may be 1-10, but you have to start somewhere!
I think it was the 3rd year that it was 11 games… It was fewer when the challenge started.
no love for day 1? boilermakers win, sparties lose again. its worth mentioning.
This is great for the Big Ten.. They may be the 2nd best confrence this year. Yay us.
