December 28, 2009NFL Rumors: Tom Heckert as Browns General Manager?
December 28, 2009As the lead-up to the Rose Bowl game is getting into full swing, we’re starting to hear all sorts of fun things about the team’s trip to Pasadena. Yesterday, the team went to Disneyland and ate a lot of prime rib at the Lawry’s Beef Bowl.
Today, QB Terrelle Pryor is in the news for two reasons: first, he didn’t pack dress pants and missed out on dinner last night. Secondly (and actually importantly), he has a partially torn PCL in his knee. Which knee it is and the severity of the injury are not being disclosed, but given the fact that he’s planning on playing leads one to think he’s not (currently) playing in Dennis Dixon mode. Given his effectiveness late in the season with a bum ankle, he likely will not be hampered [any more than normal] by the injury.
As with many [minor?] injuries that players incur during the year, the knee likely has been injured for a while (Edit: per Rittenberg it was first injured in the New Mexico State game). This is the first time that Pryor has really been around the media in a while, so the fact that the news is coming out now isn’t all that surprising. It’s common for many players to have surgery quickly after bowl games and recover fully in time for spring ball. I took classes with a number of football players in winter quarter at OSU and they all were on crutches for a week or two after having knees scoped, ankles cleaned out, etc.
