Week 16 Open Thread: Browns vs. Raiders

brownsraidersThe blackout was barely averted and thus you will be able to watch this game on your local television station. Leave your thoughts on the events below in the comments. Feel free to check out “The Browns Will Win If…” post from earlier in the week. This is the second go-around for Derek Anderson in 2009 so hopefully he plays with something to prove alongside our two established offensive weapons in Josh Cribbs and Jerome Harrison. Today’s game will also be the first of the Mike Holmgren presidency so hopefully some of our key guys prove their worth on the field out there today. Here we go Brownies!

    DA has NO touch. there is a reason he was benched and a reason he will not be on this team next year. I could have thrown that screen pass and jennings knew it

    Regardless of how bad DA is early, we are still up 10-0 and looking at a 3 game winning streak. Let’s cheer up a little bit. Of course we won’t keep DA, but enjoy the game right now.

    Is anyone there right now? I only have the Gamecast from ESPN on my computer…it just said Harrison was hurt on a kick and now is questionable. Is that true? Why is our starting RB doing kickoffs?

    @8 Janikowski kicked it short and it was a live ball. Harrison was an up man and dove on the ball. Looked like he knocked the wind out of himself.

    Could they get any worse announce team? They are stumbling over every name/school. Two drunk guys could do better.

    Well hopefully he will be alright. Looking at the stat sheet, he is the only one who has run the right way so far. Cribbs and Jennings have negative yards rushing.

    And was that the artist formerly known as Gerard Warren sacking DA? He is still playing in the NFL? How bad did the protection have to be on that play to let him sack the QB? Holy cow.

    Guys I am trying to remain positive and I love watching harrison (who should have been playing over lewis all season) but it is just painful watching dabolls run run pass offense with DA just gunning the ball behind receivers. And that is big money looking relatively competent.

    So for those who can see the game, there are a lot of DA incomplete passes. Are they mis-throws, drops, bad routes? What is the deal?

    @Jeff – Mostly bad passes and plays. DA throws it too hard and too far behind our receivers. Also we have had a lot of 3rd and longs which leaves him with few open receivers. The fact is that DA just can’t get the ball to where it needs to be.

    What a horrible drop by the Raiders there. That was awful. But good for us I guess.

    Nice play by Roth. I like that kid. I do actually think we have some talent, even if we switch to a 4-3 next year. I think our D will be better like that actually.

    @ #23 – which is a false statement anyhow, because Lake Erie is approximately 550 feet above sea level.

    Yes Chris, that was my point. Who was the pitcher who also thought that the stadium was on the ocean?

    And that Graphic comparing Harrison’s first 13 weeks to the past 2 weeks is proof that Manigini should not be coaching next year.

    not sure if you’re listening to dieken and donovan, but they brought up an interesting point that Harrison was in a knee brace for much of the early season because of a pre-season injury. Wonder if this prevented him from getting on the field?

    Never would have thought this team would have been capable of winning three in a row. Granted it was against a mediocre Stillers team, and bad KC and Oak teams, but they’ve distinguished themselves well.

    this is nit… but… WHY WAS OUR STARTING TAILBACK WORKING SPECIAL TEAMS?? didn’t we learn anything after winslow’s rookie injury? good lord, i thought harrison was out after that (very nice) fumble recovery.

    great to see a back who hits the holes fast. nice to have stclair on the bench too. i think harrison looks like a keeper. wonder why he had no pass receptions…?

    @titus – they’re saying tampa for cowher. my hope is cowher goes to carolina –> i would be thrilled if we could make a run at john fox.
