He’s pretty good… “LeBron James was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and the 24th time in his career. In leading the Cavs to wins over the Raptors, Lakers and Thunder, James averaged 34 points, 7.7 rebounds and a league-best 10.7 assists on 48 percent shooting. Over the weekend, James took over the league scoring lead and is averaging 32 points per game in January.
He was named the conference Player of the Month in both November and December and is the favorite to win it again for January. James also won the award in March and April of last season, making it four in a row. No player in the history of the award has won the award every month of a season.” [Brian Windhorst]

I’ll err on the side of sad… “I don’t whether it’s sad or funny that Redmond will probably be the only major-league free agent signing the Indians will make this winter. Redmond has made a career of being a backup, never logging more than 90 games in any of his 12 major-league seasons. He’s spent the last five seasons playing behind Joe Mauer, and though he had some excellent offensive seasons with the Twins, his bat tailed off dramatically in 2009.” [Let’s Go Tribe]

On good old No. 17: “Outside of one season, Edwards never displayed the desire to be a number-one type receiver. Edwards also appeared to go through the motions throughout his time in Cleveland. The argument can be made that the inability of the Browns to field a viable option at QB and formulate a legitimate offense attributed to the pedestrian stats Edwards put up as a member of the team. I spoke with Edwards on a few occasions and came away with the impression he would work hard and produce in Cleveland regardless of the situation. I also had the strongest of impressions that Edwards had his sights set on the bigger picture, the bright lights of somewhere where he could be visible at a national scale. Edwards’ play overall did the Browns no justice in attempting to secure a better deal. I’ve been told that, considering the player, his traits and inconsistency, the Browns received adequate compensation for a player who hadn’t really achieved #1 receiver status.” [Lane Adkins/The OBR – S/R]

Krolik makes a great point about Shaq/Amare without either endorsing or denouncing the trade … “This season, the Shaq/Hickson lineup has an offensive rating of 1.05 and a defensive rating of 1.12. The most-used Shaq/Varejao lineup has an offensive rating of 1.02 and a defensive rating of 1.02. Of Shaq’s 10 most-used lineups this season, only two have an offensive rating equal to or better than 1.14, and those lineups have been used for a combined 43 minutes. Now, that 82games data is 12 days old, and the lightbulb really seems to be turning on for Shaq and the Cavs over the last few games. However, the above data does show that Shaq was more effective playing alongside of Amare than he was playing with either JJ Hickson or Anderson Varejao. I think this should be taken into consideration before Shaq and Amare are labeled oil and water.” [John Krolik/Cavs: The Blog]

How about an OSU reunion in Buffalo?: “I think we should get Troy Smith to be our Qb, please!” [Donte Whitner/Twitter]

Have fun with that Donte/Buffalo.
I second that JK.
I’m totally buying that shirt.
I found a different shirt on the site that I am picking up.
My dad was at that !0 cent beer night – he has pretty much endless stories of it.
Since you brought up BE [MJD]
I had the unfortunate experience of catching Skip Clueless on that 4 letter network at the end of his joke show he’s on in the morning and he was ranting about how LeBron was lip synching before the end of the game as music played during a timeout. I know this scrub hates on LBJ like noone else but for me while being laughable it just sealed the deal. I can’t wait for the King to take home his second straight MVP on the way to a playoff march!
i love redmond… he looks exactly like dr. cox from scrubs/ the skinny bob from office space!
That 10¢ Beer Night shirt looks sweet. I do wish they had more Ohio choices under the “College” section though.
