How can you not love Delonte West? [Video Grzegorek/’64 and Counting]

Windy echos TD’s sentiments from yesterday: “First, get the qualifiers out of the way. It is only January, and just the regular season. In the grand scheme, it is just tiny fraction of the marathon schedule. Now that all that is done with, here is the statement: LeBron James may be playing the best basketball of his career over the last few weeks.” [Brian Windhorst]

Pronk Giving back… “On Monday, Travis Hafner and his wife, Amy, visited SouthPark Mall in Strongsville to shop with about 20 youth (ages 16-18 years) from the Beech Brook foster care adoption agency. […] Pronk and his wife gave each kid $300 to spend at the mall and tagged along for the shopping excursion. Yes, I know Pronk makes a ton of money, but this was one of those gestures you love to see from a person in his position. The Hafners didn’t have to do it, but they did.” [CastroTurf]

On the perception of LeBron’s “Star Treatment”: “I would contend that LeBron [James] generally just guards the other team’s small forward for most of the games, in a league where shooting guards tend to be the “best” permieter scorers. I would also contend that the reason LeBron doesn’t go into the post as much as we would like is because he is fast becoming the best transition defender in the history of the NBA.” [Tsunami/FSOvertime]

The life of JJ Hickson: “LeBron James treats J.J. like a little brother. […] Shaquille O’Neal treats J.J. like a son. […] Mike Brown treats J.J. like a stubborn grandson. […] And Danny Ferry treats J.J. like a trade chip.” [The Wine and Goldrush]

Star treatment is the biggest load of crap complaint about the NBA.
Does it happen? To a degree. Is it present and prevalent in every other sport as well? You bet.
If you love him, please feed him.
No shock that Sam Smith just jumps to conclusions about LeBron. The analysis about how LeBron actually plays D is pretty interesting.
Was that Danny Ferry walking in at the end of the video?
He better get back to the office are starting crafting some deals, the gym will be there after the trade deadline.
I love Delonte, favorite Cavs player other than Lebron. The guy does it all, he plays offense, defense, raps about KFC, and even fights crime in Maryland in the off-season.
I absolutely love ‘Te. I think D-Block is actually scared of him, not knowing if he is really gonna punch and/or stab him for no reason.
was that wally, way in the back?
I think Delonte and Shaq need to have a dance-off.
I wish Pronk would give about $7-8 million back to the team… then again, they’d just massively over pay a question mark of a free agent with it, rather than use it to retain some proven talent they’d grown (i.e. Kerry Wood = $10 million a year, trade away Cliff Lee at $6 million).
Oppie, Danny was pulling LeBron aside to ask him if he minds if he dumps little son JJ?
“C’mon, LB, you’ve already got 2 kids and you’re only 25! You’re just about to enter your prime! No, don’t walk away. C’mon.”
@Jack LoL or maybe moving Gibson I mean to me winning a title outweighs the friendship with either Hickson or Gibson especially if trading Z is a possibility.
this is from last year!
Thanks for posting it!
You would think Lebron would have taught his “son” how to catch the ball. Since BE left Cleveland, JJ has taken over the reign of worst hands in Cleveland.
Thanks Travis, you are a good guy; contract isn’t your fault. I have relatives who work at Beechbrook and they all appreciate what he and his wife have done for the foster children. Willie McGinist also was a strong presence
