Amare Stoudemire To Cleveland Rumor Makes More Sense Now Than Ever
February 13, 2010Grading the Cavaliers: J.J. Hickson
February 13, 2010We’ve got an interesting weekend upon us. Trade rumours (H/T, Vancouver) will be running as rampant as Teddy Roosevelt through Nats Ballpark (Corre, Teddy, Corre!). The most maddening thing about the weekend will be the mental flip-flop we all have regarding certain trade scenarios, because NO TRADES CAN BE MADE UNTIL MONDAY. Repeat: NO TRADES CAN OFFICIALLY BE MADE UNTIL MONDAY, FEB 15. So we can all spend the next 50+ hours trying to figure out whether or not we think Team A is better with or without Player Y, etcetera, and then lather, rinse, and repeat. I mean – we’ll do this anyways. But nothing is official and nothing WILL be official until Monday.
I’ll be posting NBA trade rumors as they appear in a separate post and updating as the he-said/she-said evolves. At the time this piece was last updated, the Cavs have been pushing hard for Ama’re Stoudemire, and Caron Butler is headed to Dallas. As of right now it’s unsure what the future holds for Antawn Jamison.
Aside from checking twitter like a tweaker, I’m also going to be taking in the festivities of All-Star Weekend unfolding in Arlington, Texas at Jerry Jones Stadium. Last night the Rookie/Sophomore game happened, with the lack of any Cavaliers. In addition, the dunk contest field was finalized, with Demar Rozan beating Eric Gordon to join Nate Robinson, Gerald Wallace, and Shannon Brown this fine eve.
Tonight’s celebration of celestial bodies includes the Dunk Contest, Skillz Challenge, and Three Point Contest, starting at 8:30 PM on TNT.
Tomorrow’s All-Star Game features one LeBron James, as well as a variety of other non-Cavalier players. Game starts at 8 PM.
After spending last night at the bar with a couple of DC sports fans (Kyle from Truth About It was there), I realized that though the trade deadline is hugely important for the Cavaliers, it also is a great feeling to be buyers at the deadline, rather than sellers. The impending reality of blowing your team up isn’t fun. So while we certainly have plenty to debate, we should at least take a moment to not be unaware of the good situation we’re in.
If you need other stuff to check your sports fix, lo and behold, sports fan! The Winter Olympics are a-happenin’ in Vancouver, which means not only will there be a ton of coverage on NBC-owned broadcasting stations, but there will also be plenty to take in. The Games are starting on a somber note, with the passing of a 21-year old Georgian luger during a qualifying run yesterday.
But that won’t stop me from doing my best to enjoy the games, nor should it stop you either. So chime in with the events you’re excited for, get at me on the Tweets if you want, and most importantly STAY SANE. Check out the amazing merging of sports worlds that the Jones accomplished at media day in Arlington. We’ve got until Monday until trades can be made FOR REALSIES.

I love trade deadlines…Go Cavaliers…C’mon Danny boy bring us and LeBron another stud so we can go and get that shiny trophy we’ve so richly deserved for so long!!!!
Anybody else mourning the death of big sporting events being played in the afternoon?
Aside from the marital harmony aspect, I miss watching big events in daylight. Especially on Sundays. And especially the World Series.
And typewriters. I miss typewriters. And vinyl records. And blah blah blah.
I miss wearing an onion on my belt
All I want to know, is if we have to wait until Monday to make a trade… and why that needs to be repeated ?
Because Denny is trying to have a thread about something else. There is a post one below this about trade stuff.
