NFL Draft Rumors: Browns Interest in Sam Bradford is Growing
February 24, 2010Baseball America: Indians Have Five of The Top 65 Prospects
February 24, 2010I’m probably going to get lynched for that headline. This is actually not about the Wizards and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The latest we have seen is this Washington Post piece saying that a buyout is coming soon- Wednesday at the earliest. I’m a little confused by that addition to the article on Howard’s season ending injury because it is dated Wednesday. Whatever. Check out Andrew’s buyout piece from earlier today for Z news, also an excellent piece from David Aldridge about what it is going to cost Zydrunas to take a buyout. I ask you, would you take a million dollar loss for your company?
No, the buyout news I’m talking about is coming from Sacramento. It appears that the Kings have waived Larry Hughes after reaching a buyout deal on his contract. The oft-injured guard is dealing with a fractured finger and never took the court for the Kings after being part of the three team deal that sent T-Mac to New York and Kevin Martin to Houston. Hughes reportedly wants to sign on with another team to finish the season, and…wait for it…. apparently the Charlotte Bobcats have an interest in the ex-Cavalier!
The Bobcats are currently tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference. How they are one game under .500 is a mystery to Cleveland fans who have seen them take 3 out of 4 from the Wine and Gold. If the Cavs and Bobcats were to finish 1 and 8 respectively it would certainly be a bad first round match-up for Cleveland. Unless of course Larry Hughes gets involved. If that were to happen I can’t even see Charlotte making the playoffs. Surely Hughes would find a way to implode that team as well. Even if he doesn’t really play.
Charlotte would be Larry’s 5th team in three years. He begged off of two of those (Chicago and New York) and I suppose you could add Sacramento to that list as well since he sought the buyout. Impressive. This is a signing worth rooting for.

I wouldn’t take a $1mill paycut because it would take me 20+ years to make that much. Would I take 10% less to move out of the office and travel abroad, or for the possibility of working on a more interesting project, well I don’t think that’s unreasonable.
Well, seems like we may get yet another team’s fans to run http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/
LarryHughesPleaseStartTakingBadShotsForOurPlayoffCompetition.com is now under effect. Can’t wait to see him get to another team only for them to realize he sucks and bench him til they can fit him into a trade again.
$590,000 + $326,500 = $816,500
This is likely the number that Washington wants from Z to get his buy-out.
Would you take a free 30 day vacation from your employer without sacrificing ANY pay from what you were getting last week?
What if you also got to go from a humdrum bottom of the barrel company to a Fortunate500 company leading the industry in research?
And….what if you were then included being wined-and-dined (free of charge) during your 30 day vacation by a bunch of other companies trying to woo you to join them?
Is there any opportunity that LeBron would take a paycut next year so he can play with another superstar here in Cleveland? Would LeBron take one for the team???
Not sure why Larry Hughes would be of any interest to anyone whether it’s a team or Cleveland fans. I believe the phrase, “Beating a dead horse” is applicable.
@6 I used to wonder when I was little, why players wouldn’t play for less to have one dominate team. The reason is that the players union would frown upon it, because LBJ playing for less would drive down the market for other key stars.
im sure glad larry isn’t on the cavs anymore, but he was wearing a cavs uniform the last time they made it to the finals. maybe he wouldn’t be such a bad pickup for the bobcats? im just sayin..
