Breaking News: Browns Trade for Quarterback Seneca Wallace

It appears that Mike Holmgren got his guy. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns have traded with the Seattle Seahawks for Seneca Wallace.

More on this as it develops.

(Update: It is reported that the trade is a conditional draft pick in 2011, said to be ranging from a fourth- down to a sixth-round choice.  The Browns currently have their 11 selections for the 2010 NFL Draft)

haha… just think… the browns could be good in madden next year!

also, i like Lefevour, but if hes there in the late 3rd and Holmgren passes then I can accept as well.

    @ 17: This was a homer pick

Exactly. This is a whole lot of nothing.

@Everyone who hasn’t heard of him:

You should probably stay quiet and keep your comments to yourself.

I like the Seneca trade. He has shown his ability in the WCO. Im not sure if Mangini plans on using the WCO, but Wallace is still better than DA. Sign me up for Watson. You know who would be a great student to learn under Seneca Wallace? A certain QB with a similar game? Mr. Tim Tebow.

Seattle sucked balls last year. Seneca managed one win as a starter – against the Rams.

At least he didn’t cost much.

Senecca Wallace + Josh Cribbs + Troy Smith + Tim Tebow + Jerome Harrison all in the backfield AT ONE TIME will make your eyes bleed and your brain shrivel up and cry trying to figure out who has the ball and who is running, throwing, catching. More revolutionary than the forward pass.

I dont want the browns to touch Pike with a 50 foot pole.”

I see what you did there.

I’ve never heard of Seneca Wallace, but I’ve always liked the name Seneca (wanted to give it to one of my kids, but I couldn’t decide whether it was a boy name or a girl name).

  • Titus Pullo

At least he’s not Troy Smith.

  • Mack

He’s small for an NFL QB and has a history of injuries, but he has put up decent if not spectacular stats when given a chance and can run very well.

Not every backup who did well in that role has done well as a starter, but he can’t be worse than what the team has had.

If I had to guess, Wallace is Holmgren’s way of getting to know the rest of our offense. He knows what he’s getting with Seneca, he’s “his guy” right now. Now that he’s got some sort of mark, somebody familiar to compare the rest of the team to, he’ll be able to make better personnel decisions.

    Mack
    he could be worse
    there is always worse
    like me, I’d be worse

    /back to my day job

He stinks, that’s why the Seahawks traded for Chaz Frye two years ago. And Chaz Frye got starts over him…

deebo has me wondering when the first (and presumably last) attempt at having two players carry the ball at the same time occurred in organized football.

I haven’t heard of Seneca Wallace. He’s a kicker right?
