Anxious for the playoffs to begin, only a dozen games remain before the Cavaliers begin one of the most anticipated postseasons in franchise history. Pretty cool playoff breakdown by Cavs The Blog. Atlanta worries me some in the second round, but I’d rather face them than Charlotte who seems to have our number this year. It looke eerily reminiscent of last years playoffs with Toronto playing the part of detroit this year. I’m beyond ready for the playoffs. Hopefully we’ll be at full strength (Z returns, Shaq back from injury) by the 2nd round, if not sooner.

I’ve read similar things, and I can’t exactly discount it.
BUT I have to wonder whether top-flight line prospects get groomed for left tackle or center, anyway. I suspect that’s the case. That suspicion has me wondering, further, whether lefty quarterbacks adjust their play accordingly. I suspect that is also the case.
BUT BUT (TWO BUTS!), I haven’t seen enough of Tebow to predict whether he’d be any good as a pro QB. So my opinion on his play ain’t worth the cyber-ink I’d spill on it.

the bobcats are sneaky good but im not ready to say im “worried” about them. the only team i am “worried” can beat the Cavs in a 7-game series is orlando (in the East). our games against Char are:
10/31 – Win at home & 11/27 – L away. i throw both out since any game pre-2010 has little meaning at this point in the season. plus, the loss was the friday after thanksgiving which, while on the road, is a sure-bet clunker.
1/3 – Loss at home, second night of back to back. Char played great and the cavs didnt. a tough luck loss at home that could have gone either way. This one i give credit to Char for a big win.
2/19 – Loss at Char. first game post-jamison trade and a total stinker with the Cavs looking out of sorts, plus second night of back to back after having played OT game against Denver the night before. the Cavs looked completely dead that game. (for what it is worth, Denver went on to play a back to back as well, getting trounced at Washington that same night! so obviously, the back to back and OT game the night before had its effects).
im not blowing off Charlotte at all as i think they are a good team. its just looking at each game and the particular circumstances for each one, im not buying into Char. being that “dangerous” yet, especially not in a 7-game series where the teams are on the same schedule, the cavs can game plan specifically for that team and if needed can play lebron the whole game.
Thanks for more Tebow. Can’t get enough.

@Harv- I am pro-Tebow and I think some Browns fans and Browns management are excited about the prospect of grabbing Tebow because he is a great character. After Ben Roethlisberger’s and Mike Vick’s respective incidents every organization wants the face of their franchise (the QB) to be a respected person in the community. Because of his faith people are rooting for Tim Tebow to succeed. Our country was based on Christian principles…

And about 80 percent of the US population consider themselves Christian. So, as a religious society we all like to root for somebody who values the same beliefs as the Country as a whole.
@ Matty – I don’t want to turn this into a religious/political debate. However, I take issue with a blanket statement that “as a religious society we all like to root for somebody who values the same beliefs as the Country as a whole”. Across the board, most religions have the same core values. Yes – there are outliers. But to blanket the entire nation as “Christian” and say that because the majority of the country is “Christian” therefore will root for Tebow is obtuse.
Mike Vick asked forgiveness to society and to God. Though his actions in the past are not in strict accordance with “Christian values”, he asked forgiveness and mentioned his faith in his apology speech. Isn’t a pillar of Christianity forgiveness? He falls into the 80% of Americans that are “Christian”. Should we, as Christians, root for him coming to the Browns because of his beliefs and values?
Also, I’m Catholic, FWIW – lest I be labeled a heathen.

Well, Vick has asked for forgiveness and as far as I can tell he has been granted it, at least by society. He has a job.. Because he gave a heart felt apology and served his prison sentence I will root for Vick’s success… Even though I forgive his actions (he doesn’t need my forgiveness) I would welcome Vick to the Browns. But he has had a questionable past and his brother has character issues so that’s another thing you have to take into consideration when talking about signing Vick..
Does he have baggage like Pac Man Jones? As far as I can tell Vick has been a model citizen since his jail sentence. I think he has learned from his mistakes and I think because he gave a heartfelt apology and asked for forgiveness God has forgiven his actions as well.
You made a good point about rooting for somebody to come to the Browns because of his belifs.. But I don’t compare Vick’s beliefs to Tebow’s because Tebow wouldn’t have put the Falcons in that situation where they had to void his 100 million dollar contract. Or the Washington Wizards 100+ million contract with Gilbert Arenas… Tebow seems to have better judgment which is a plus for anybody who will be signing paychecks for any job opening not just NFL QB.. I could be wrong. Maybe Tebow gets a few million dollars and starts acting like an idiot like the aforementioned players.. but nothing points to Tebow acting a fool.
Main point. As employer who is hiring somebody, you are going to want a candidate who can fulfill the job duties (Tebow may not) as well as somebody who will not jeopardize your company by making idiotic decisions. And if Tebow can perform the duties as an NFL QB, I don’t see the downside in drafting a person with such strong convictions.

I will try to say this without sounding hostile…
The United States of America is a Christian nation. It was founded with Christian beliefs and because of our Christianity one is free to believe in whatever religion a person would like. You don’t get that religious freedom in most countries. Our country won’t persecute somebody because of their spiritual beliefs (unless they directing hurt people; however misguided those peoples interpretation of their religion may be).

@ Fos – My issue was more the speaking for all Christians aspect of your comment. It certainly doesn’t apply to my case. If he goes elsewhere, I’m completely apathetic to it. If he becomes a great NFL quarterback and the Browns passed on him, I’ll get over it. But to say that 80% of America wants him to succeed because they are Christian and he is Christian just seems absurd to me.
Now, it’s also totally dependent on when (if) the Browns would draft him. I doubt his ability as a QB in the NFL because of his throwing motion. Yes – other QBs have off mechanics. But very few take so long to throw the ball. Also, I find the juxtaposition of pious Tebow with slimy Meyer to be fantastic.

@MattyFos – I think you are greatly overstating the amount of support Tebow will have simply because he is a Christian. I am a huge a SEC fan and go to a few games each year. I can tell you while all my Christian friends respect Tebow, they root against him and are quite annoyed by the media’s deification of him.
As to the whole Christian nation thing, I would respectively remind you that the man wrote wrote those eloquent words you quoted above was in fact, not a Christian. Jefferson, like many of the founding fathers, was a deist.
C’mon already do we need to taint sports with all of the religius talk? MattyFos no offense but you tried this once before in a discussion I particpated in about Tebow and here you go again. Why do people who have a religious belief feel the need to express it and more importantly impose it upon others? I haven’t seen anyone write or mention anything hedonistic about a player yet it’s always the religious people who feel the need to call out others who have made obvious mistakes. Isn’t it more Christian to forgive and to express a tolerance?
Btw ask Native Americans how they feel about Christianity! I’m done, I wanna discuss sports not religion and certainly not politics.

If a religious belief is sincerely held, I would say that the believer believes it touches on matters of utmost importance. While the timing of the expression is one thing, I cannot assail a felt need to express it.
@27 I didn’t mean to sound harsh with my comment towards MattyFos I most assuredly respect his opinion and feel that people are entitled to their beliefs. However we’re talking about sports and I just don’t see religion having a place is all. Just like many other outside factors such as politics.
It’s my belief that one day I believe the Browns will be good. 😉

I never saw him play but given the school and the division in which he played what makes people think he’s so special? This isn’t sarcasm, I’m asking a serious question.
Btw Bruce Drennan reported on STO that the Browns are bringing Colt McCoy in due to their interest.
Finally any QB whether he’s Christian, Pagan or even an Atheist would be fine my only requirement is that he actually be able to play the position of QB.
