Open Thread: Cavs at Detroit Pistons
March 16, 2010Cavs 113, Pistons 101: Cavs Coast to 53rd Win
March 17, 2010While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com
The first thing you do is walk over to the announcers table and stare out into the seats. First, the lower bowl, then up at Loudville. Then you look down at the white residue of chalk on the black surface. You imagine a crowd of 20,562 strong, all eyes on you. You pour some imaginary powder on your hands, rub them together, then toss the mixture into the air, raising your pale, thin arms like Atlas lifting up the world.
It’s the sort of mimickery you did as a kid, in your bedroom, in the front yard, imitating a Mark Price three or a Brad Daugherty dunk, when no one could watch except the throngs of adoring fans in your imagination. Except this time, you’re on the floor at the Q, you’re almost 30-years-old, and you’re throwing imaginary chalk in the air and raising your pale, thin arms in front of your friends, some security guards, and some obviously entertained Cavs employees. And you could really care less what anyone thinks of you.” [LeVince Grzegorek/’64 and Counting]

It’s Tebow day! “Never have I recalled a Pro Day workout with as much hype. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely. Will it change anything about anything? In the grand scheme of things, not so much. Tebow’s draft stock? Perhaps. The most annoying part? As much as I want to completely ignore the story, I’m strangely intrigued.” [Legend of Cecilio Guante]

Feel free to buy a Jake Delhomme jersey, even though we have no guarantee what number he will be wearing! [FirstCuts]

Charity stripe slumps: “Antawn Jamison’s dad has been calling, his friends have been suggesting tips, fans have been yelling from the sidelines. Jamison is mired in what he calls “by far the worst slump” of his career at the free-throw line. After going 1-for-2 in the Cavaliers’ win Tuesday over the Detroit Pistons, Jamison had made just 10 of his last 30 free throws. He’s shooting a shocking 45 percent in his month with the team.” [Brian Windhorst]

And finally, a collection of media reactions to the Quinn and Delhomme trades [Dawgs By Nature]

Hate to be a post Nazi, but what does Tebow’s pro day have to do with Cleveland sports?
Can we get some updates on Favre’s retirement status while we’re at it?
Re: Dawgs by Nature’s post…
I am going to go on record saying I think Lombardi is crazy when he says Peyton Hillis is “iffy” to make the Browns’ roster this season. I don’t doubt some of Lombardi’s criticisms of Hillis, that he is relatively weak with the ball in his hands, but I think the Browns will have plenty of opportunities to put the ball in his hands either rushing or receiving.
In favor of whom would they cut Peyton Hillis? Anyone?
@Swig… the Browns are almost definitely going to draft a quarterback this year, right?
On top of that, (even though Scott did it this time) I look for excuses to link to The Legend of Cecilio Guante because it is one of my go-to sites and is high quality.
Swig, its also included to rile up us people that have this:
http://darthno.ytmnd.com/ , enter their minds everytime someone mentions the Browns drafting Tebow.
COULDN’T care less. Couldn’t . God almighty.
Do you think Bronco’s sports blogs will photoshop a picture of Brady Quinn with teddy bear ears? …I can only hope so.
say no to Tebow…..that’s not even an OSU homer call, if were drafting a QB we need someone who is likely to hit. With that said I don’t think we even need to look at Tony Pike or Jevan Snead. I’m highest on Colt McCoy if were going into the second round, then if he’s gone I’ll settle for LeFevour.

The Angels are going to try and beat our Snuggie record? Really? Are we going to up the ante with a Browns Snuggie record attempt?
Why does it say Monix on your jersey when your last name is [edit]?
I heard that Holmgren was looking into making a few more moves and has been making calls. Does anyone know any rumors of what this could be?
I would like to hear more about what Andy is asking about.
I hear Holmgren is trying to trade Brian Dabbol for a tackling dummy and an orange gatorade cooler…. I think that would be a steal for Cleveland.
FYI- I hate Dabbol.
Please take a prediction I read here that Shaun Rogers will be shopped and upgrade it to a “rumblings” status by, say, this afternoon so that it can mature into a full-blown rumor by this weekend.
Shaun rogers is as good as gone. No way he plays for the Browns this year…
I heard on Channel 3 last night that we were looking at Rob Simms (G) from Seattle and The OSU. He is a restricted FA.
A Buck Fifty for a Delhomme jersey?!? Can I just order a name plate to put over “Edwards” on my exsisting 17 jersey?
Vare-A-Jay
I almost bought an Edwards jersey at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $9.99 a couple months ago, thinking that I might remove the letters, modify a D and the R, rearrange letters, and convert it into a Sipe jersey.
