Narrowing down the choice for Cavs players in the upcoming resuscitation of the classic NBA Jam: “LeBron? No explanation necessary. Shaq? Too legendary to even think about snubbing, especially after he famously made Orlando cart around the original arcade version on road trips so he could get his NBA Jam fix. The final vacancy? Williams and Jamison obviously have to be considered strongly, but who doesn’t think about Varejao when they think about the Cavs? Bradford might be their guy, but trading up isn’t part of our job description. So it will be Clausen. Examining the bullpen in light of the Kerry Wood injury: “What if Perez doesn’t quite work out of if Wood loses more than just 2 months? Well there are plenty of names the Indians could turn to if Chris Perez struggles in assuming the Closer role. Rafael Perez could be a shot, Jensen Lewis has been good in the role in the past and until his more recent struggles was considered to be the guy in the future. Perez has the power arm and big breaking stuff you love to see a closer have, but his control was a little bit rough last year. This also opens up a spot in the Indians bullpen for the time being, which is very unclear who could fill the void. Please, not Clausen. I don’t care how intellectually lazy it is to dislike him for the same educational pedigree as Quinn, but I would rather go elsewhere for my QB of the future. Like Texas/McCoy. Or even Bradford.
Anyone know if the Thaddeus Gibson Browns workout went well? He’d be a monster at DE or OLB. I like him/saw him play in high-school and with TheOSU and he would work well anywhere, really.
My NBA Jam Cavs prediction…. LBJ, Mo, DWest and Andy.. Jamison and Shaq are just complimentary pieces to this Cavs team. Neither have been here long and neither will be on the team long. So you have to go with the corner pieces of the Cavs
Nice to see someone else (at StepienRules) is not panicking during the greatest moment in the history of Cavs’ franchise. My guess is that all the nit-pickers and worry warts will someday in rocking chairs recollect rosily how great it was to follow the LeBron-led Cavs back in the glory days.
Clausen be damned, I’d be pretty upset if they took any quarterback with their first pick. Unless every team in front of us drafts defense, there should be a big playmaker left.
@ Orbi – Thaddeus Maximus reminds me a lot of Gholston, in that he would play huge for spurts and then disappear. Then again he likely isn’t going to be a first-rounder, so the risk involved in taking him in the third or fourth is nowhere near as high. He’s a good player, but Cam Heyward was the beast on the OSU line this past year.
…THEN JUST DRAFT HEYWARD INSTEAD.
As much as I love Andy, he is not the 3rd on my NBA Jam squad. LBJ and Shaq are locks, so my 3rd spot reluctantly goes to Mo, ’cause he balances out the skill set nicely. Andy just isn’t made for NBA Jam and ‘Tawn is too much of a poor man’s Lebron. However I would actually give that third spot to Delonte over Mo if I could. Hell, I’d even give it to Z for sentimental sakes…and I’d definitely run with the Twin Towers lineup once a game.

Oribiasi – Gibson’s pro day workout at OSU was last Friday and went really well. Scouts said he probably moved himself up to a late 2nd round pick. His workout with the Browns is scheduled for April 1 though.

Has everyone already forgotten that this new NBA JAM game that is coming out is for the Nintendo Wii only?
No one has the Wii unless they have kids under the age of eight years old. If it isn’t on Xbox360 or PS3, I could care less about the game.
sam – I know plenty of people that have a Wii console, and don’t have kids. Not everything is about graphics.
