Mathematical Proof of Tom Izzo’s NBA Success

As the free agency rumor season continues, the Cavaliers coaching rumor season is also relatedly running full force.  After Danny Ferry’s resignation it appears that Dan Gilbert might just be intent on hiring a college coach, namely Tom Izzo.  Now a lot of people are especially wary of college coaches making the jump from the college ranks to the NBA.  The thinking being, how do you take a process that includes recruiting like crazy to guarantee some sort of success and then just rely on your X’s and O’s expertise to get the job done?  All the while, you have to make it happen with players who are no longer working for free, but make much much (much) more money than you do.  All practical theories aside, I set out to prove once and for all with mathematics why Tom Izzo will definitely be a success in the NBA.  The Shannon Brown Principle does this perfectly.

    Championship unlocked.

So by Izzo math LeBron should more than triple his scoring average. We are looking at LBJ averaging more than 90 pts a game! OMG!! Someone should email this to LeBron! James will re-sign now for sure!

    Did Denny hijack Craig’s account?

@ MP34 – I had nothing to do with this, aside from shipping an unlabeled container of ‘goods’ to Craig’s house.*

    * This didn’t actually happen.

BTW, I love it when WFNY drops some scientific knowledge on us.

    Did Denny hijack Craig’s account?
Ha, I thought the same thing.

THE LOGIC IS IRREFUTABLE!!! I welcome our new spartan overlords.

Basketball coaching is all about giving advice. This is advice I learned from my favorite TV basketball coach, Coach Finstock:

“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.”

“What is it, gambling? Drugs? You know I’d really like to help you but I’m kind of tapped out this month. The IRS is coming down on me like it’s some personal vendetta against Bobby Finstock.”

@Clown Baby – are you Bill Simmons?

  • Clown Baby

Not last I checked. Is he also a fan? I haven’t read Bill Simmons since he started impersonating Bill Simmons. It is possible we like the same, greatest TV basketball coach ever.

Now we need to trade DWest for Shannon Brown and all is good.

We need to bring in Idong Ibok, Paul Davis, and Goran Suton and the Cavs would have the best front court EVER.

I would like the Cavs to bring Raymar Morgan in too.
    CANTON!!!!!

Izzo said Raymar is the most versatile player he has ever coached. At 6’8″ he can guard college point guards and college centers.

In all honesty, I still, to this day, cannot understand why the Cavs let go of Shannon Brown. Most of the mistakes made under Ferry were partly a product of circumstance. Letting go of Shannon was just a flat out mistake on the hands of Mike Brown and Danny Ferry.
