While We’re Waiting… The Cyclone, MLB Trade Deadline and New LeBron VII’s

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com

We finally have a name for the offense that features Josh Cribbs, Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.  Behold, “The Cyclone.”  “That was the first I had heard about that,” Wallace said. “That could be dangerous. Hopefully, they’ll stick to their word and all three of us can get on the field together.” [The OBR]

“With the continuing futility of the Tribe this year, they are entering yet another trade deadline as sellers. By now most of us are used to the egregious efforts to sell off the best players on the team, and are numb to the idea. Still, we want the Tribe to win and always have aspirations to see them do well. So, what are the chances that certain players could be gone? How would this impact the team?” [Cleveland Hope]

Chicago sees Michael Symon’s deal and raises it.  I think? [From the Marbles]

Not the call-up many were looking for, but hey: “Triple-A Columbus right-handed reliever Frank Herrmann got the news this afternoon from manager Mike Sarbaugh that he has been called up to Cleveland. [...] Herrmann, who just turned 26-years old last weekend, will be making his Major League debut. His call up to Cleveland is well deserved as in 19 appearances for Columbus he was 3-0 with a 0.31 ERA and in 28.2 innings allowed just 15 hits, 8 walks, and had 22 strikeouts. Opposing batters were hitting just .156 against him, and he leaves Columbus in the midst of a 27.2 inning consecutive shutout streak.” [Minor League Insider]

And finally, No direct link, but Nike just released white and gold lowtop versions of the Air Max (LeBron) VIIs today.  He’s obviously going to the Wizards…

I am trying to be optimisitic about the Browns but I have very little confidence in the offensive coaching staff to creatively use Cribbs, Wallace and Delhomme together. We didnt win anything through creativity last year. When our offense clicked it was through running people over. But, I am willing to be suprised.

    From the Cleveland Hope article:

“After a rocky start to the year, Westbrook has recovered and has been pitching well. His contract is up after this year… Indian’s fans know what that means. The Tribe trades away pitchers in the final year of their contracts faster then you can say, “Cy Young”. However, Westbrook isn’t exactly a C.C. Sabathia or Cliff Lee and has just come off of Tommy John surgery.”

But Lee wasn’t in the last year of his deal and I think that’s what really upset a lot of Tribe fans.

If I had basketball shoes I would have those white/gold LeBrons.

The Browns should run the oop-dee-oop.

How much time are the Browns going to spend discovering the myriad ways they can outfox themselves before they get down to running and blocking?

We had Cribbs, Harrison, J-Lew (for a time), and Derek Quinn (or DQ as I like to refer to them as it reminds me of Blizzards…and Blizzards are delicious, though that was not true of that QB tandem, and we showed essentially zero offensive creativity last season–save for a foolish Cribbs INT against the yinzers. Our coaching staff did not change. While I’m all about the restorative powers of President Walrus, at this point I have no confidence that they will do any better to make use of our limited weapons than was done last season. The new regime at the top has me confident in our off-the-field progress. The coaching staff and players must still convince me on the field.
