Report: LeBron James to Announce Decision Thursday

According to ESPN, LeBron James will announce his decision during a 1 hour special starting at 9pm on Thursday night. The Boys and Girls Club of America will receive the proceeds from any advertising sold during the special we are told.

Yahoo! is reporting that LeBron, Wade and Bosh will “finalize their plans” in a conference call on Wednesday. According to Yahoo! and ESPN nothing has been decided as of yet. Chris Broussard, who has been very hit or miss with reports says that “Knicks gaining major ground in LeBron Sweepstakes. Bosh snub hurts Cavs, though they’re still in hunt” in a tweet late Tuesday night. Broussard had himself a busy day. He started the morning by giving Cavalier fans hope that they might be getting LeBron and Chris Bosh, but eventually turned on his own report by saying that Bosh “could not be warmed to the idea of playing for Cleveland.”

The location of The Announcement (which it is sure to be dubbed if Cleveland is not the chosen team) is not yet known. Brian Windhorst tweeted that while it might give an idea as to the location of the “winning” city, it is said to be at a neutral location- not one of the cities involved in the running. So LA is available.

I do have a suggestion for @KingJames though. This is not a threat. Neither myself nor the site would condone such actions. There are more important things in the world than sports. But if you are choosing to play somewhere other than Cleveland, you may want to hire some extra security for you place on Thursday. We’ve seen crazed fans set things on fire when they win.

Which is why part of me thinks there is no way that LeBron knows the history of this area and goes through with a televised special to rip their hearts out. No way. Is anyone really that evil? Of course, we will have 500 different reports from now until then. Brian Windhorst seemed to be distancing himself from the situation with this whopper of a tweet- “Suddenly it is clear to me. LeBron has changed. A new website. Starting Twitter. This announcement. This isn’t the guy I know.” Windhorst of course has said all along that he believes LeBron is staying.

Conspiracy theorists are sure to have a field day with this latest development, as the scene resembles something from the old World Wrestling Federation than the NBA. Tweets are coming from all over describing LeBron like some hero character that has suddenly turned. Tom Withers- “After watching LeBron with his two kids today, I thought he can’t leave home. Now, I don’t know.”

This one about sums it up- “Vince McMahon’s LeBron scenario: Just as James shakes hands with Dan Gilbert, Bosh hits Gilbert with chair and they both put on Miami hats.”

@JK i’m not talking about market size. i’m talking about playing and living in miami during the winter. the beach, the women, the nightlife, etc. you’d be fooling yourself if you don’t think miami is far more appealing than cle and toronto in that respect.

Point taken Eric, I understand that money isint everything, but to professional athletes it seems like its most of the thing. I just suppose I dont understand how (living on south beach, playing with d wade and only d wade) > (playing in cle, with the best player in the world, making way more money, better chance to win)

wow – deep breaths everyone… The NBA is a Business. Like any business, the owners and employees have a right to negotiate the terms of their employment. If a company came along and offered me more money or better teammates (or both) to move away, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

To those that are willing to base your loyalty on whether or not Lebron stays, let me ask you this… Do you also hate Antoine Winfield (also from Akron) because he doesn’t play for the Browns?

I say we can be better than this

While I would like to think that there is no way that he would go on national TV and reject his hometown like this, nothing surprises me anymore. I am a lifelong Cleveland fan, after all…

If he does do this…there will be piles of flaming number 23 jerseys lining the streets of this town. He wouldn’t only be leaving…he would be leaving with his middle finger extended. Just can’t see him doing this…but who knows?

Also, why is there this perception that Bosh doesn’t care about winning by choosing Miami over CLE? Since LBJ and Wade both came into the league Wade has been to the playoffs 6 times compared to LBJ’s 5. They’ve been to the same amount of NBA Finals and Lebron has been to the conference finals just once more than Wade, 2-1. And obv Wade has the ring from 2006.

I know as CLE fans we are insecure, but don’t let your insecurities blind you from being objective.

If ESPN is to televise Thursday’s LeBroadcast, are they intentionally calling off their dogs to find out exactly where he’s going to sign?
