“With LeBron, the Cavs were back on the NBA map with sellouts and national TV games. The team won two division titles, made it past the first round five consecutive years, was the top seed in the East two years in a row, went to two Eastern Conference finals and one NBA final, and had the best five-year record in franchise history.
Along the way their games became events; one of the best feelings was looking at the upcoming schedule on a Sunday morning and, seeing back-to-back games on Tuesday/Wednesday and another game on Friday, knowing the week was set. Watching this team – especially the past two years – has been so much fun.
I know some will argue that the Daugherty/Price/Nance Cavs of the late-’80s/early ’90s were better, but they never accomplished what LeBron’s Cavs did, not by a long shot. No division titles, one conference final, first-round playoff losses.” [Red Right 88]

“One of the most useful words to come out of Berea over the past decade has been “interchangeable.” From a carnival of quarterbacks, running backs who tease preseason potential, the police lineup of left tackles pre-dating Joe Thomas, defensive linemen masquerading as nose tackles, Andra Davis being Andra Davis and onto a franchise resurrection which occurs roughly every three years – the past decade of Browns’ football has proven the utter relevance of such a term.
In the case of the Browns’ safeties during this time, “interchangeable” was actually viewed as a positive. In many ways, it still is. Once the Romeo Crennel era ushered in the 3-4 defense experiment in Berea, “interchangeable” became a great buzzword to describe the alleged versatility of both Sean Jones and Brodney Pool. However, considering that “interchangeable” was often a euphemism for “not that good” – finally, the word itself has been altered to take on a more distinct meaning – as in “replaceable.”” [Cleveland Reboot]

If Jim Tressel left for the NFL, would that be “disloyal?” [Eleven Warriors]

Agree with Vince. Underwood brings Manning down. Manning knows what he’s talking about and for the most part makes good comments and keeps it interesting. Never been a fan of Underwood.
Has to be someone else out there who can do a better job.
I’ve tried to stay out of the whole Lebron discussion but I will say this – The bigger issue here, it’s not about the “what,” it’s about the “how.” It’s not that he left, it’s how he left. “Loyalty” is such a gray area that 11W does a good job to try and “define” in his article. One other scenario that can be added to his list – “Is Z being disloyal for leaving?” I’m sure this will be it’s own post later today so I won’t touch on it right now. But as for Lebron, he certainly deserves to be villified for his actions moreso than his decisions. Yes, his leaving is more disloyal than, say, another non-Ohio-born player we drafted and spent 7 years with. But he has the right to be “disloyal” just like we had the right to want Izzo to be “disloyal.” We just would have liked Izzo to be more compassionate in his revealing his disloyalty…that last sentence made my head hurt.
Kind of surprised about the announcer rankings; I’ve always liked Manning because he’s not afraid to point out when a player screws up, plus I think he knows what he’s talking about, something you don’t see in other ex-players.
It’s hard to take the survey seriously though when they didn’t put the Yankees’ John Sterling at the top of the worst list.
I think you guys need to do a full analysis – with the benefit of all that we have learned in the past week – did LeBron *REALLY* quit against the Celtics this year? Specifically in Game 5.
At the time, it was an easy out – but I didn’t really believe it. i simply couldn’t come up with a valid explanation for why he would quit. It made no sense. Today, I’m not so sure
I suggest you guys go into Investigative Reporter mode and get an answer to that question once and for all
Regarding Cleveland Frowns comment about the Soccer World Cup being the only “true” world championship. Games for the 2011 Rugby World Cup are going to be on network TV this year. I am pretty confident that America is finally going to see a very impressive game that normally gets glossed over in our news media, despite being vastly popular overseas.
In summary, Rugby is better than Soccer!
On the other hand, Tom Hamilton has to be one of the best radio announcers in all of baseball. The guy has it all: The knowledge, the voice, the personality, and the ability to think quick on his feet (e.g., the guy falling out of the stands… handled with the perfect amount of class).
