Cavaliers to Unveil New Uniforms

Tomorrow night the Cleveland Cavaliers will release their new uniform design. In case you missed it, they have already made subtle changes to the color scheme and logos, and changed the design on the floor. Could that design already have leaked out however? Apparently an NBA video game already has the floor design, and has Cavaliers in new digs. No word on whether these jerseys are the real deal, but they have the floor correct.

One thing is certain- Shaq will not be wearing these jerseys anytime soon.

    If those designs are correct I love them. They look similar to the Denver uni’s, which happen to be a favorite of mine across the 3 major sports. Still wish the Browns would change their uni’s. But, won’t happen.

    Why can’t we go with one trim color? Are we trying to make it look like our jerseys were sewn by a clown?

    I love the new floor graphic and I hope that it replaces the radioactive basketball logo that all of the networks use.

    Windhorst tweeted, ‘Only major difference is writing on front of jersey. “Cleveland” & “Cavaliers” now in block style’ so it seems that these are accurate updated jerseys.

    Love them, like the way Cleveland looks across the chest.

    New Floor? Was that photo up last week? Or have we still not seen it?

    We already had one of the nicest jerseys in the league, why change it?

    I mean the block font looks alright, I could see wearing that as an alternate uni, but why ditch the cursive font entirely? I dunno, I dont get it.

    I like these. Maybe a bit too much going on in the trim, but I like the font a lot better than the one with that over-exaggerated “C” in the old ones. Some minuses and some pluses, but overall an upgrade I think. Like the last set, I like the blue best and think the wine are the worst.

    These jerseys are 100 times better than our old ones. The old cursive “Cavaliers” was the worst.

    S-Dub, the Nuggets jerseys are your favorite and you want the browns to change theirs? No offense, but your uni-vote does not count.

    The uniforms pictured in those video game screen shots were confirmed to be fake weeks ago. They were mock-ups created by somebody with a modded version of an NBA game (last year’s Live, I think) for the PC.

    Besides, NBA rules say you can’t add an alternate jersey (Hardware Classics excluded) until two years after coming out with new home and away basics. That’s why the Cavs didn’t get the blue alternate until the third year of the LeBron era. It’s also why Orlando is getting a black alternate this year, after having two seasons of the basic home white and away blue. (They skirted the rule with the black Hardwood Classic early-90s design the past two seasons.)

    So, with that rule in mind, you can already rule out what you see in those video game screen shots, which show home, road and alternate blues. Also, they don’t “have the floor correct.” If you saw the original version of the Shaq image, you’d see it’s last year’s floor.

    Other than that, though, this story is spot on.

    Tom V- Thanks for the info. Do you have a link for that? The site I linked at the end of the piece has the image the Cavaliers sent out about the new floor. That’s what I was speaking about, not whatever floor is in the actual video game.

    @15 Orlando already has a black alternate jersey.

    I still say we need to go back to the late 80′s early 90′s jerseys.

    Well I am hoping these are fake. The trim around the shoulder would be a major mistake. I like it as a alt not as a regular feature.

    Work stoppage, what work stoppage? The NBA better make that loot while it can! I liked the new midcourt design but we’ll see about the uniforms. Hope it translates into win #30. 

    PS: maybe one decade a championship can be unveiled instead of (a)uniform changes, (b)another head coach and (c)players not named Moon or even worse Graham. I’m just saying.
