Ohio State vs Michigan: A Lesson in Greed and Foolishness
August 25, 2010Eric Mangini Says Abe Elam’s Pass Defense is “Developing”
August 25, 2010It’s a cool graphic huh? Many thanks to Jon Cole for the work.
We received unfortunate word about an hour ago that Sam Amico will in fact not be writing a feature piece for WFNY. Well, that’s not entirely true; he already wrote the piece. It’s done, but unpublished.  However Sam regrets to inform us that an ’employer of his’ does not take kindly to the idea of him writing anything for the readers of WFNY. Alas, Sam is going to have to pass though he does send his regrets.
We like Sam, we enjoy his work, and we wish him nothing but the best. We are however, quite disappointed and we owe our readers an apology for promising something that apparently is not going to happen today as originally intended.

Is someone worried this feature would further legitimize this site or what? Sad to hear this news.
“We are however, quite disappointed and we owe our readers an apology for promising something that apparently is not going to happen today as originally intended.”
MSU fans everywhere accept your apology. ZING!
Man, I had so many good David Bowie “I’m Afraid of Sam Amico” jokes lined up.
Actually, it was just that one. But still.
Probably not the right time JNeids.
Sorry. It was more a shot at my alma mater’s in-state rival. Feel free to delete the comment.
No, JNeids I think right now would be a good time for a stroll around the neighborhood for me. Maybe count to a hundred or so.
Ok, perhaps a silly question, but isn’t Amico freelance?
Rick – I am assuming you’re talking about me? If so, at no time did I ever tell Sam that I do “not take kindly to the idea of him writing anything for the readers of WFNY”. We’ve talked on the phone before, always been good with us, I guess I expect better than a cheap shot like that.
Sam’s been writing for TheClevelandFan for like 2-3 years and does a bunch of stuff for STO on the tube as well. When one of our readers shot me yesterday’s link … it caught me off guard. I emailed Sam, told him I wished he woulda gave me/STO a heads up if he was gonna start writing for you guys … and that we ask comped writers to keep their columns to TCF and their blogs (for those that maintain em). That’s all that happened. Horse’s mouth.
And going forward … call me on this stuff Rick. I woulda called you if we made a play for Sargent. 🙂
This have anything to do with TCF?
“Employer of his” is the employer that we (maybe just me?) are all thinking about right…you know the one.
Rick, keep your head up. It’s called growing pains. I for one think it’s exciting to see you guys growing. There will be bumps in the road. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Obviously the “man” is holding Amico back. I’ll keep rooting for the underdog – I’m a Cleveland fan, after all.
@Tron Thanks for being more obvious than me! I was going to put the website with the poor reader response system.
As die hard cleveland fans, we all scour the same blogs err I mean websites for information. I can understand why a competitor, presumbly one that rhymes with “the believeland pan”, that pays for content would be worried about getting somewhat recycled analysis that appeared on another site. At the end of the day, these sites are all business and would sell out to ESPN in a nanosecond if given the chance. Simple solution is for WFNY to pay Amico more. Ala Cribbs….Pay da man!
For the record- Sam Amico asked US to write here.
I’m pretty sure that WFNY doesn’t have the jack that whomever is c-blocking this site has. Nice try though.
Rick, no worries, these things happen. You guys are doing a great job, and something like this shouldn’t diminish all the positives you’ve generated on this site
Appreciate all the support gang. This is not a business for us. It is a passion for all the staff and perhaps we (I) tend to take it personally. We will indeed continue on, by no means will this hinder us in any way.
Well, it isn’t my site and I was pretty excited for this feature. I can’t even imagine how you guys feel.
We’re here for you guys. Don’t worry, this won’t turn out to be that big of a loss.
I bet Jay Mariotti could be had.
Well this won’t make our other announcement any easier. Let me just break it here right now. Scott has decided to leave WFNY to focus on his true passion in life… obscure polka bands.
It is going to be tough on the site, but we wish him well.
Werner Thomas is underrated!!!
Honestly, TCF is paying Amico so I can see why Rich wouldn’t want him pubishing at WFNY (especially without telling Rich first). It makes sense from a business perspective. WFNY has been growing greaty over the last year couple of years and has pretty much taken the reigns from TCF so I can see why Amico would want to post here.
If Amico wants the most readers he will post here, if he wants money then he will post at TCF.
@Clown Baby …because you reminded me of Daniel Plainview “What else can be had?”
OK I read the post and the comments, and I’m still a little lost. The Amico feature is totally dead, or it’s just not starting today? I get all the conflict of interest stuff.
Still excited about the other announcement. Any time frame on that one?
I frogive you
No Amico = boo. That graphic = boo, too.
This is, by far, the best free site for Cleveland transplants. Keep up the good work. Hopefully the Tribe, Browns, and Cavs will give you something positive to write about.
P.S. I miss the Force / Crunch
Pardon me, but I just don’t get it. Some guy I never heard of was going to write for you once a week or something, and now he’s not. So what?
@29 Blogging is so complicated!
@30
I haven’t seen ‘boogeyman’ around these parts in quite some time…
Who the thell is Sam Amico?
And for that matter, what the hell is TheClevelandFan?
